  • Stonebrunt farming gets a little easier on Test...

Seems a trifle redundant to me, though.

I mean, it's not like Toxx to Stonebrunt was an epic journey of immense proportions or anything. :?

Bet it's got something to do with LoY and Gulf of Gunthak access.

Hmm....today is when the new zones come out. There is that tunnel at the back of the kitty village that goes no where. Maybe they added it in for easier acess to it. The website has it listed as 30-60 range zones, why make a 30-60 run into Paineel and the Warrens?

I know it has been. That's what I ment, maybe they are going to finally add a new zone off of it. And I put money down that one of the new zones will be Broken Skull Rock (Island)! Who wants to take that bet? If you look at your map you get with the game there are more named areas then zones for the old world. They added Stoneburnt and Jagged Pine, why not more of the other stuff to fill out the old world?

There's also a cave entrance near the northeast corner of the zone and the dock to the south.

I also read about a new quest in Greater Faydark where the NPC mentions the Stonebrunt Mountains dock.

            Gulf of Gunthak

The Gulf of Gunthak is listed on the map as being the body of water where Broken Skull Rock is located. There are also plenty of areas in the Old World where more could be added. I mean, there's the lake south of Mistmoore. The lake north of Steamfont. The Hills of Shade between Butcherblock and Lesser Faydark, on Faydwer. There's two lakes between Neriak, Rivervale, and Halas. Not to mention the Frigid Plain between Halas and Lavastorm. Not to mention three or four more named areas on Antonica. The Barren Coast which is east of Stonebrunt. Vasty Deep just north of Barren Coast, and The Grand Plateau west of Erudin on Odus. And there's a couple named areas on Kunark. Not to mention the number of possible addible areas on Luclin.

Needless to say, they'll have plenty of room to add zones for us to explore.

One of the zones I noticed they were adding was called stonebrunt2 (with the appropriate set of extensions).

              Looks promising.

Wizard and druid single target and group gate spells. You missed the wizard translocate, if there is one. Hardly redundant.

WC to lava (or Nek) wasn't an epic journey either, but those have gates. Basically, a zone with a book gets traffic, a zone with a gate gets less (or next to same) and a zone with neither gets none. Having learned their lesson with the failure of stonebrunt (billed roughly as the next LOIO), they are going to get it right for LoY. Gratz learning SoE.

I didn't miss one. Go back and look again... :P

And if SOE had learnt their lesson, why aren't the new spells 'Circle of Gunthark' et al?

Yeah, rumor has it that at least some of the new zones will be off of Odus. They likely added these teleport spells for easier access (although running from Tox to Stonebrunt isn't hard...).

                      Wheres mah X-loc?

The 4 linked are : Self Gate Dru/Wiz, and Group Dru/Wiz. No x-loc, though by level I'd assume it would be 39th and no frag required...

                      Does it exist?

I was going to say this doesn't have a translocate because there are no spires ... but then I checked an the 3 "new" SoL ports (DS, GF, TS) have translocates, so that nullifies that theory.

The run through paineel to the Warrens, while rather easy, can be a scary premise ("running THROUGH a city that wants to kill me? You must be NUTS"), and the Warrens can be both confusing (those tunnels get me mixed up a few times, mostly leaving though not going to SB) and dangerous for the lower levels (while its easy at 50+, at 40 the bosses, and hordes of lowbies, can still be problems. As the content is billed for 35-60, the lower end of that spectrum might have difficulty getting through the warrens). Stonebrunt itself is rather unsafe, with the high number of agressive mobs of decient level - the port (hopefully) bypasses much of the SB content as well, getting the lower levels closer to where they need to be for LoY.

With the Toxx port, it is rather redundant, I agree. But from their current perspective of making transportation (relatively) easily available to anyone and everyone, it seems to "fit". Plus most EQers seem to be afraid of dungeons in general (why I'll never truly understand - its the outdoor zones that scare me :P ) and this bypasses one, again seeming like the "modern vision" for EQ.

At least this will make runs to farm pelts a little faster if I don't just PoP-book it :P
