is there such a thing? i've known people over the years to say the best place for xxx is in xxx zone. while i'm sure it would be a herculean task to do everything, would it be somethign that could be added for the most common ingredients, i.e silks, etc..?

The issue with silks, animal pelts, and other items like those is that they are available in a wide variety of places, some overlapping.

For example, over 1600 known mobs that have excellent silk:

But it looks like it is mainly mobs between levels 57 and 72 (from the first few pages I checked). That may be a better way to go with it.

There are some clues, though. Besides what Draggar points out... silks drop from spiders and "human" mobs. Pelts drop from animals and "humans". Loams drop from golems(?) and "humans".

was trying to think of the more commonaly needed items when you're going to grind getting materials. i remember farming karanas and guk for silks and twlight sea for shadows. thought it might be a very short but useful guide

I suggest magelo or alla's for drop information. If someone is interested in putting one together, I can certainly sticky it - but someone else will need to take on that task

That would require a book.

Maybe a link to the Magelo page for those items? They include MOBs that drop them and reported %?

Magelo is a data collection site. One thing that they report is where and from what mob an item drops. The percent referenced is as per the player population reporting who killed a mob and out of those kills how many times that specific object was in the loot package.

Note: Players enlist to auto report kills and loot.

so went to magelo and sync everything. still not finding many resources there

Search for an item you need and it will tell you what drops it (and where) as well as how often that drop is reported. You can also look up the mob and see where they spawn.

The issue is with the new silks, ores, pelts, etc. they drop in most zones and are based by the level of the mob.
