  • Gukta, Outpost of Marr

 Ok, I didn't get exact locs this first trip there, what with the slaughtering of trolls happening and all, but wow, new city (well overhaul). Grobb is no more, trolls live in Neriak and a whole new froglok city is up and alive in old Grobb.

If you get locs on new vendors (some are prolly in similar locs to the trolls who were there) post em, I will be.

(note: this is all on Tribunal server, though I suspect it's game wide)

    EDIT: spelling and such=P

        Brewing quest

[Fri Feb 07 00:47:20 2003] You say, 'Hail, Mungunie Bubupa'
[Fri Feb 07 00:47:21 2003] Mungunie Bubupa says 'What's that? I'm afraid I am too busy to help you now. Can you go into the back room and quiet Crikk up? Find out what he wants.'
[Fri Feb 07 00:47:21 2003] Channce tells the guild, 'night'
[Fri Feb 07 00:47:23 2003] Uberest tells the guild, 'later man'
[Fri Feb 07 00:47:33 2003] You say, 'Hail, Zok Crikk'
[Fri Feb 07 00:47:33 2003] Zok Crikk says 'Some in the outpost think that brewing ale and consuming it is profoundly against the wishes of Marr, but I think otherwise. What about you, friend? You don't mind if I call you friend, do you? Anyone who is interested in brewing is a friend in my books! If you're looking for brewing supplies, you've come to the right place!'
[Fri Feb 07 00:47:43 2003] You say, 'What do you want?'
[Fri Feb 07 00:47:44 2003] Zok Crikk scoffs, 'On your way, Namini. There's nothing you or any other bumbling fool here can do for me. Wait. Perhaps there is. . .'
[Fri Feb 07 00:47:51 2003] You say, 'How can I help you?'
[Fri Feb 07 00:47:52 2003] Zok Crikk says 'You see, normally I despise anything to do with troll culture, but I have found that their brew isn't half bad. There was a particular cask or two of the good stuff laying about here and I'm afraid they are now nearly empty. I could use some more to improve. . . Err. . . Morale. Yes, what I wouldn't do for more. Will you get me some?'
[Fri Feb 07 00:47:59 2003] You say, 'I will get you some.'
[Fri Feb 07 00:47:59 2003] Zok Crikk says 'Would you? I don't know where you should start looking, but the label on the casks reads 'bog juse', if that is any indication. I expect I will see you again shortly.'
[Fri Feb 07 00:48:09 2003] Zok Crikk shakes the bottle and uncorks it with his teeth. After a sniff, he smiles and takes a swig of the frothy brew, 'Ah, that's the stuff. I am appreciative of your assistance.'
[Fri Feb 07 00:48:09 2003] You gain experience!!
        [Fri Feb 07 00:48:13 2003] Namini saved.

There doesn't seem to be any continuation, and I received no faction or anything like that. Seems to be just a quest for newb fribbits to get exp and improve brewing at the same time. Although, it should be noted that after my mass slaughter of mocassins in Innothule, they don't appear to drop any Snake Scales required to make the brew. I bought a stack in PoT instead.

The regular moccasins only seem to drop the large scales, the giant ones haven't dropped any scales for me yet (hunting them for another quest - trainer wants the trinket from his lost pet Giant Moccasin).

Aye, I dont have the names of the NPCs,

but there are working (I assume)

Wizard, Paladin,. Cleric, and Shaman trainers in the clearing at 383, neg 383.

I did not see a warrior trainer, but that was about the time the "NERIAK AND GROBB ARE COMING DOWN SOON" message came on.

I did a rusty weapon quest with some frog by what used to be the sk guild in grobb. It also only gave xp - no faction, no reward, no continuation.

Shin Supplier Nugrud was the name.

                Fungus Clump Quest

                [Fri Feb 07 02:38:42 2003] Your Location is 123.38, -337.30, 7.41
[Fri Feb 07 02:38:44 2003] You say, 'Hail, Goona Seesoo'
[Fri Feb 07 02:38:44 2003] Goona Seesoo says 'Hello, Namini. Heard about my special armor and couldn't resist visiting eh?'
[Fri Feb 07 02:38:47 2003] You say, 'What armor?'
[Fri Feb 07 02:38:48 2003] Goona Seesoo says 'I have learned how to make a light-weight armor out of a particular type of fungus that can be found in Innothule. It is very nice armor for an aspiring adventurer. Do you wish for me to craft you some?'
[Fri Feb 07 02:38:56 2003] You say, 'I wish for you to craft me some.'
[Fri Feb 07 02:38:57 2003] Goona Seesoo says 'I can make you a piece of armor, but first you will need to gather some Fungus Clumps. They only grow on the Fungus Man Watchers in the swamp. If you come across four of these clumps, hand them to me and I will make you a piece of armor.'
[Fri Feb 07 02:39:12 2003] You say, 'What Fungus Clumps?'
[Fri Feb 07 02:39:31 2003] Goona Seesoo says 'Thanks, but I need four Fungus Clumps to make a piece of armor for you.'
[Fri Feb 07 02:39:31 2003] Goona Seesoo says 'Thanks, but I need four Fungus Clumps to make a piece of armor for you.'
[Fri Feb 07 02:39:31 2003] Goona Seesoo says 'Thanks, but I need four Fungus Clumps to make a piece of armor for you.'
[Fri Feb 07 02:39:31 2003] Goona Seesoo takes the clumps of fungus from you and begins to sew them together at a manic pace. Before you know it, Goona is handing you a piece of armor. Here you go. May Marr's blessing be upon you and if you need more armor, bring me four more Fungus Clumps!
[Fri Feb 07 02:39:31 2003] You gain experience!!
                [Fri Feb 07 02:39:31 2003] Namini saved.

Reward was a pair of Fungus Flesh Gloves (2ac wt0.5 ALL/ALL no graphic). Very disappointing. There are 4 spawns points for Fungus Men in Innothule at locs
                -660.85, 856.68
                -1890.52, 1124.00
                -1443.31, 699.69
                -428.31, -303.10
The common spawn is a Fungus Man Tracker, with Fungus Man Watchers seeming to pop about 1 in 4 pops, and they seem to come in groups (after I started logging my info, one round of spawns produced 4 watchers. Whether this was coincidence or by design I'm not sure). The spawn time is 6 minutes. Fungus Clumps are rare drops, maybe 1 in 6 off Watchers only. Sacro fungus is a fairly common drop. Trackers are very low level mobs, and Watchers are maybe 4-5 times harder. Being 53 I can't guess the exact levels, but they seem pretty hard considering the utter crappiness of the reward.

                Hope this helps

For faction there is one quest I've found. Dar Collector Reokar, when hailed, asks for stuff from the swamp - "rat parts are fine, and I could always use some freshly caught fish." Turning in Fresh Fish got me a message about that he could not use this, and wanted bone fragments instead. Turning in Bone Chips (the standard skeleton drop ones, nothing special) gets a postive faction hit with Frogloks of Gukta.

The collector is near the entrance. Enter Grobb, go across the little river, then turn around and cross it again on the other side of the wall (to the east of the entrance path).

Regrettably (or maybe not, depending), handing in 3 high quality rockhopper hides does not get you anything...not even the hides back.

Oh well, it was worth a try.

                      Bone Chips Quest

Dar Collector Reokar has limited stock space. After handing in some bone chips (I believe it was eight), he returned the next one I handed him and said he wanted Fresh Fish. After giving him fresh fish (again, 8 I think), now he's asking for Large Rat Ears. Faction still at amiable. Will post more soon.

Its probably a temporary takeover (ie event)

Because it never seemed to have happened on Rallos Zek (or at least before the server down last evening)

Remember when the de's took over Rivervale (ahh memories)

Ok i just checked this morning and the froggies did actually take over grobb at the server down last night. But i still beleive its only temporary

                          Re: Oberon

Have you taken a good look around Gukta? A complete set of mobs, NPCs, new storylines, et al. Complete NPC dialogues unique NPC pathing. ALSO, new graphics replacing the old Grobb signs with more sophisticated Froglok displays. In multiple places, actual zone geography has changed to accomodate for short Froglok stature, and one room suffered a 'cave-in' and is now sports a new rock structure a top former geography (I'm talking about the room at loc 215, 90). Not to mention as-yet undocumented changes to Neriak, Foreign Quarter, and at least one reported change to an existing spell and item to reflect the change. Sure, they could undo it, but that is an awful lot of trouble to go through for an "event" that would last less than a month, and SOE/VI has made it clear on numerous occassions that if work can be avoided, it is.

People thought the "undead rising" in Kithicor was temporary too.

if it was permanent they would have warned about the change like the cazic thule zone

Because what would they do about the trolls or other races logged inside of the town?

Is the Froglocks of Gukta faction related to the Upper Guk Live froggies faction? The reason I ask is because, well, my husband has a paladin character as main, who predates the addition of a quest for ghoulbane, so regretably we've slaughtered a lot of froggies.
