  • Non-racial armor

I see that Conflagrant armor seems to be able to be made by anyone (correct me if I am wrong). I always found it to be super cumbersome having to level tradeskills for every race character I wanted to make armor for. I think when I quit Regal was the best armor I could make.

I guess the best way to ask the question is, what is the progression of tradeskill armors since Regal, and are any of them not race restricted?

Regal is cultural armor (crafter must be the race of the recipient). It fits someone level 96 and maxes stats at 100.

August is the next set of cultural. It fits someone level 101 and maxes stats at 105.

August is the last of the cultural armor. I understand no additional, higher cultural armor is planned.

Conflagrant armor may be crafted for anyone by anyone. Trivials are high.

Ahh, gotcha. I did stumble across items found the the tradeskill book "Equipment of the Ethernere" which are non-cultural. Are there any items that are better than these that follow the same rules? (other than Conflagrant)?

There are some high quality sets of armor that drop when Hardcore Heritage zones are with us. These pieces convert to fit the player by handing them to an NPC near the Smithing/Tinkering building in Plane of Knowledge.

The House of Thule expansion brought us tier one armor called Abstruse (created by combining a dropped item with a matching crafted piece – template - or a more expensive merchant piece). The Veil of Alaris gave us tier one armor called Rustic. Again the dropped piece is combined with a crafted template or a purchased merchant’s match. Then, in Rain of Fear we found tier one armor called Fear Touched which converted to Boreal armor. In each succeeding expansion a new and nicer set of drops/converting-to-armor are found. The Empires of Kunark (next to last expansion) gave us Cohort as tier one and Selrach as tier two, with tier two being rather difficult to obtain.

Then came the current expansion. In tier one zones Names drop armor tokens which when combined with the old tier two Selrach armor make the new tier one armor. Shudder! But, never fear. While the Empires of Kunark had almost no new crafted items of any kind, the Ring of Scale almost overwhelms us with new crafted things of every kind. Included here are the new Conflagrant armor pieces. Conflagrant is better that the tier one but not quite as good as tier two. (Call it tier 1.5) Crafters are very busy, harking back to when cultural armor was important.

Parallel with these sets of armor are incidental pieces of armor dropped by Names everywhere.
