I would like to know whats the best all around farming charcter to Team up with a cleric for farming TS stuff. At this moment it seems that maybe a druid would be with its AE, Kiting, and forageing Abilities.

    What are your opinions?

My cleric is mainly a smith also doing tailoring.

I would say it depends on the skill.. if you're farming for pelts and silks, a Druid is perfect (don't mind my bias please ), especially after 55 and they get their pet. That little bear will simply TEAR through crag spiders, wolves, bears, etc when buffed. Forage is also useful and they can Track.

However depending on the level of mobs you are going after to drop pelts/ore/essences/whatever, you might want to look for a melee. Perhaps a Ranger would be good, since they have similar "utility" as a Druid (SoW, tracking, snare, etc) and don't rely on mana to do most of their damage.

Well from the "team with a cleric" point of view, I'd say the Ranger also. He can track, forage, SoW, etc. and do it all while wiping out mobs with melee and then cleric can heal. Ranger won't use much mana, cleric can med and buff and heal when needed.

A druid will pretty much farm the same amount with or without the cleric. As a magician, the cleric would mostly just be in the way for "farming". However they are a great partner to have for xp duo hunting.

As a cleric I'm currently working on a mage to farm with, toss a couple hitpoint buffs on the pet and just put the mage on autofollow with a /assist mainname /pet attack hotkey. It's amazing what a mage pet can go through in terms of low level stuff. Of course I am totally missing out on foraging with it which is something of a pain.

I personally use a paladin and cleric team. I am working on making a ranger and a shaman to and/or add to the team.
If you really need the forage stuff go with the ranger though

But can a ranger handle the big heal bomb? No.

Having a mana dependant class isn't terribly efficient for low level green farming. I'd pick a melee type (actually a ranger is actually the best here), a necro or a mage. Mage pet is fearsome.

I'd have to say a wood elf bard is the perfect farmer. Starting at level 37, bards can swarm kite crag spiders with abandon. Same with pelts in Stonebrunt, etc.

I have farmed with a ranger and a druid, and I always gather more silks, pelts, etc. Why? I run faster and get there first. I also do not have to slow down to med. Over the long haul, the druid would ask me to stop killing and sing him the mana song so he could go back out to farm. Bards forage and track also.

I am a half elf bard, but I'd say wood elf simply because half elves don't have any cultural tradeskills. Come to think of it, maybe a human bard would be best.

Enchanters are great for farming. Throw a Rune or Berserker spell on yourself, create a pet, have it dual wield and haste it, then just target the mobs and Tash. Refresh Rune/Berserker as it falls. You can use even less mana by casting Theft of Thought on caster mobs and using clicky stuff like a Blue Ceramic band to pull instead of Tash.

When farming cyan/blue mobs, the crowd control is invaluable. Stuns and chain Runes for your pet for the tougher mobs make it very productive.

                  Don't runes cost money?

                  :/

I am only 26, but already my reagent costs ~ 1 plat. Every time I cast rune.

Depends on how much you get hit and for how much. Rune V will last 2 fights with brownie guards in my experience, but it will last until it fades when farming gobbies in SolA. The Berserker Strength/Spirit spells are much better if you KNOW you are going to be hit a lot for a lot of damage, since there is no reagent. The key is to only get hit once, then completely back off and let your pet do the work.

When I was farming bandits in the Karanas in my mid-20's, I'd throw on my lowest Rune and pull bandits one by one, get hit once, then back off and let the pet handle it. Pets heal much quicker than we do. ;-) Your rune should last you at least 2-4 initial hits, which you should make back easily with your farming (and then some...).

What do you mean? Clerics are *great* solo green farmers.

/em nukes a mob for 506 damage, killing it instantly!

/em flails pathetically at a green mob, chasing it halfway across the zone.

                        Enchanters

Enchanters are certainly efficient killers, but doesn't the lack of foraging or tracking make it harder to farm?

Berserker Strength, Rampage, Berserker Spirit, and Bedlam don't cost reagents to cast, yet can still add quite a bit of damage absorbtion.

I was soloing miners for eons in the Grimling Forest caves at 51 (12 AA worth) before I got bored and started leveling again.

Cast pet, give cheap weapon, haste, AC buff, Berserker Spirit, damage shield.

Pull with slow and the pet tears through the mobs. Refresh the Berserker Spirit and damage shield as appropriate.

You can add in DoTs and Nukes if you wish.

For farming green or even light blue mobs, Enchanters are great. With bigger stuff there tends to be greater risk with an Enchanter than say, a druid.

Thank you all for the responses. They have been great. Looks like I'll be PLing my Mage mule and maybe my Enchanter. Already have the services of a High level druid so this should be fun. Once again thanx.
