I'm sure the shaman would like to research Torpor and Malo.

Don't know how this will work really. I'm 200 research, magician. And I have every single one of my spells except the rare Luclin ones (60 pet heal, ancients).

This had better be something more spectacular than the friggin Sage quest results. I wasted a lot of time and plat on that quest.

Torpor less than 1kpp? What server are you on Cantatus? Torpor for less than 60K is worth 50 bucks....

            If only...

That's just fine and dandy for INT based casters...but what about WIS based casters? We have to put up with the same crappy spell drop system as everyone else. In all honesty, that sounds like a big "screw you" to priests and other WIS casters.
I would much rather have a dropped spell system that research. With dropped spells its one step, camp the mob that drops the spell and your done. With research you have to hunt down all the components for the spell, then attempt the combine. If you fail, its back to hunting.

            /sigh

And I thought I was done with research when I hit 50. :?

Anyway, I would love to be able to research my disease lifetap spell, it's kinda hard to get people to camp the royals in chardok these days (was hard before too).....who got the smart idea to put spells on one single NPC who not only has a PH and does not always drop the spell but is at the deepest pit of chardok. /groan

If they make Int caster dropped spells researchable and decide to do the same for wis casters, giving us the research skill, I certainly hope they set it so the first point trains you to your level. I can imagine that several mid-level wis casters who actually spend their training points would be really ticked off if they had to start at 1 when already at level 40+. As a shaman, I wouldn't mind being able to research my 50+ level spells instead of having to wait in line to camp some uber mob to get it.

and as for "camping research components" if these research components are anything like the original versions, they will drop off anything and everything in the appropriate level range, especially crap mobs that are killed repeatedly and daily, and drop little or nothing else. As a result, original research components have always been approximately the easiest things to find, unless you're actually looking for them of course.

This might explain the "rune of complexity" I saw drop in Kael last night.

I sincerely hope they change the way Magician research works. Having to add the pet scroll from the prior level every time you wanted to research your latest pet was a very expensive pain, particularly when you suffered multiple failures.
Word and a component is no problem, but keep other spells out of the recipes.

a list of most or all of the wizard spells obtainable in this way has been found and posted on the boards of the wizard class site www.graffe.com, as linked below

                          http://pub140.ezboard.com/fgraffeswizardcompilationfrm1.showMessage?topicID= 24666.topic

oh, and we are still investigating the vendor's hail text and trigger phrase, since they probably do something at least.

Well, research skill is really the purview of the INT based classes, but I agree WIS casters should also get an alternate avenue to acquire the 1-60 spells (if Sunstrike or GSS or EER are researchable, then equally rare spells like Malo or Torpor, to name a couple, should also, in some way)…

They could always add a “prayer” skill for WIS casters:

Instead of a tome, you get a portable altar. (or even make it a fixed container in the guilds/temples) Inside the altar you have to combine certain ingredients (ex: incense, herbs, blood, animal parts) and if your ‘prayer” (sacrifice?) is acceptable, your God gives you a scroll.

Beneath the silk, lies a will of steel.

Personally, I would like to be able to research other classes' spells.

That being said, I have no problems with Research as it is now, and would be very happy to see these changes go live.
