farming guide

I was wondering if there might be any interest in creating a thread to post areas where people have good luck farming specific items. I know that I for one am always asking other tradeskillers I know about good areas for ____. Just a thought, any ideas or suggestions?

While not a bad idea, it seems like something that the mileage would vary greatly on from person to person. For the global drops, for example, it might just be easier to say "anywhere with mobs in the level range XX to YY" since listing them out verbosely would just be a little silly. For some specific items, or groups of items, this might make sense. For example if someone asked me where is a good place to farm research components, I'd say the elementals in Katta are excellent. However this might work better for me as a mage with my anti-summoned lines than other classes.

Specif mob drop info on most items can be found on Allakhazam already, so if someone is looking for what drops a particular item I'd just suggest they look up the item on there and see what drops it. The lists might not be completely comprehensive, but neither would anything we started here from scratch.

I love this idea. It would have to be organized somehow, though.

My contribution: Rhenium ore drops commonly in Halls of Honor off the black animation guys.

Spiderling silk from spiders in the caves to west side of zone, Respawn is 6 seconds and drops very commonly. (just did this for fletching is why I know of it)

i just use magelo's item search when i'm looking for a spot to farm certain tradeskills since it gives places that items drop and %'s.
