Does increasing wisdom advance a trophy faster, or does that only work with regular skillups?

    Sort of, but not directly.

The trophy requires a certain amount of "experience" to level up.

Some trophies level up more slowly than others (thus require more "experience").

The trophy only receives experience from successful combines, of non-trivial (the trivial level of the combine is greater than your raw [unmodified] skill) items as long as that trivial level is within 100 points of your raw skill, unless your raw skill is greater than 250 (at which point any non-trivial combine works).

The "experience rate" is determined by the complexity of the combine compared to the tier of your skill and the level of the trophy.

In general the higher the level of the combine (as long as it is within the 100 requirement) the more "experience" it gives for a successful combine. The exception is all combines with trivial levels greater than 350 which give the same amount of "experience" as a 350 trivial level combine.

Now about greater wisdom and "sort of" increasing the rate of experience. The highest stat (wisdom/intelligence and in some cases STR or DEX) is used in the calculation on whether or not you are successful, so higher wisdom (/interlligence and in some cases STR or DEX) can increase the number of successes and thus increase the rate at which the trophy earns "experience" and thus the rate at which it levels up.

A long time ago it was assumed (whether correctly or not we may never know) that wisdom increased the rate at which you skilled up on a skill. I believe that we have since been told by developers (following the tradeskill revamps) that skill ups occur at a set rate for each tradeskill and is not effected by stat levels, but we do know that skill-ups do occur more often from successes and that higher stats do increase the chances of successes.

Bottom line, higher stats do help with tradeskills.

Hopefully all that was not too confusing.

      Sorry. You have it backwards

High stats affect skillups, not combines. High stats increase the chance to gain skill on a failure... which of course happens while you are gain skill
