  • Coming back to the game after 4 years what has changed?

    Coming back to EQ after a 4 year absense. What has changed in tradeskilling?

    I left not to long after all those AAs were added in GoD? Like salvage and such

    I have been poking around for a few days and this is what I have come up with so far.

    *New Trophy quests that has a 15% mod when done (but I guess its only 12% at level 300 but will go to 15% after a bunch of hard combines well over 300?)

    *New Artisan Charm which looks uber to me, but is it still uber in the game?

    *ngreth works for SOE. Did he work there 4 years ago and I was just oblivious?

    What other big neat things am I missing?

    Of the top of my head, there has been a
    Revamped Spell Research system;
    Revamped Poison Making system (recent change);
    Many additions ot Alchemy (and may have had a revamp in there, forget when all the changes on this tradeskill have been);
    DoN Cultural Smithing and Tailoring;
    and new player-made weapons were also a recent addition.

    There's alot more, but those are some of the bigger ones, you haven't already discovered.

        Of course, the new jewelery crafting methods and materials make items players really can use!

          I am responsible for most of that so within the 4 year limit, since I will have only been here 4 years in september.

            All those changes were great! The revamp of the spell research was very awesome, and desparately needed from the start of the game, as the old system was a headache to even look at, let alone try to do any work in.

            Keep up the great work, and hopefully for another 4 years or more

              So I left just as Ngreth became a developer and since then has done all this cool stuff with tradeskills! It figures!

              Way to go Ngreth! I am still getting my feet wet again but poking around it looks like there has been a lot of neat tradeskill stuff since I left and I am guessing you made most of it happen.

              On another note...

              Is there a new AA that gives everyone foraging? of a max of 50
              for non-foraging class/race?

                Yes, it's under General and called Foraging, and raises skill by 50, even if you never had the skill .. for a few years, it didn't work for those that got 50 forage racial, but no class skill (i.e. anything but Rng / Dru Wood Elf, and any Iksar, but they finally fixed that .. Yay!).

                  Well, just wanted to throw my little comment in here. I too have just returned after 4+ years gone. I can't remember when exactly I stopped, but I know GoD was the last expansion I remember playing in. I have only been back 3 days and am really at a loss as to how to get restarted in tradeskilling....Oh well, I'm sure it will come to me. In any case Cheers to you all, hope to chat more in the days to come.

                    Try going to Crescent Reach or Abysmal Sea and doing the trade skill starting quests. (If your main is too high, start them all with an alt). This will give you the basics to the new system.

                    Use Ctl F to FIND the trade skill NPCs in those zones.

                      Thanks for the advice. I'm sure I will have to do it on an Alt as Misto was working on his 4th trophy when I quit playing.
                      It's a bit of weird deja-vu with dislocation going on for me. Things look similar but gameplay is different. Stupid addictive game. Sheesh.

                        The crescent reach quests are less annoying, if you just want the skill. The Abysmal Sea quests let you "refine" materials... and takes quite a bit longer.

                            The research revamp was great:-) Because of the binding powders you only need one series of drops to go to 300.
