  • Looking for a formula...

    Hail fellow Tradeskillers,
I know this has been asked before but I could not find it, sorry. What is the formula to figure out what stats you will get for an item when you are under the REC LEVEL for it. Such as the "Valorium Ring of Gallantry" with a Rec level of 60 for my 51 Ranger. I wanted to know so when I found other items on my level 1 seller I can just do the math rather then run my Ranger to the Bazaar from halfway across the world.
I dont need a formula to couculate out to the 99th million of a percent. Just a ballpart is fine. Thank you all for any help.

P.S. I asked this before but got no answer, on my new P4 computer running Windows XP Pro my wolf form and all other wolfs and cats in the game are blue with red heads and feet. Anyone want to tell me what to do about it? PLEASE!

I've never thought it was a formula....

Just a ratio.... but that is just from casual observance.

If you are lvl 40 and item is level 50 recommended, it would be a 4/5ths ratio.

So if it had 5 int, you would get 4, 50 hitpoints, you would get 40 etc.

    It seems to round down.

Anyhow, just right click on a link to the item and it shows you in red exactly what stats you get on it.

Edited to mention that I currently wear 2 items that are reccomended for higher levels.

I am 44 and I wear some PoP embroidered gloves, and the Solstice earring, lvl 50 and 51 recommended respectively. Sometimes the stats are worth it, and I figure I'll grow into them.

I had the exact same problem not too long ago. Also, I had skeletons running around looking like they wore white mittens and black booties.

The problem is that your texture cache has been corrupted. Go into your EverQuest directory and delete all the *.txc files -- that's your texture cache. DO NOT delete anything else, and if you're unsure of what you're doing, ask a computer-savvy friend to help.

And obviously, don't do this while EverQuest is running.

As to the recommended levels, I'm currently level 39. My weapon is Rec. Level 51, and my armor is Rec. Level 45. I still use these items because they're plainly superior to anything else I can reasonably get my hands on. I figure I can "grow into them" over the next few levels. Seriously, though, I've wondered the same as you. My best guess is a straight ratio, but I'm not positive.

It's a straight ratio. It was kind of fun to see how many points of int I got at a given level when I passed over a rounding point.

Another, safer way to get your textures working is to go into the options, turn on texture caching. Load into the game. Zone once. Camp to desktop (just in case). Restart the game, turn texture caching back on, and go from there.

I think you mean to turn the texture caching OFF the first time, then zone, then back on. <grin>

Having said that, I suffered from no ill effects from the drastic megabyte pruning, but I know enough about PC's to tinker with the files directly. The way quoted here is MUCH safer if you're not comfortable mucking around in a PC's software internals.
