  • item links

Recently of late I have found I am having trouble bringing up the description box when clicking an item link. It seems to work maybe once out every 8-10 times.

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Nope, probably lag.

Had to connect through a can and a string the other day (dial-up), and in the bazaar links took up to a minute to show up.

Might seem to not be working for that reason.

I too have this problem. But for me it seams to not work the most with links from my guild chat. Usally when I get a /tell with a link or when I see something on wither serverwide.ranger or serverwide.eqtraders it works. Then again, I'll have maybe every 10th link not work on the serverwide's but work on /gu chat. Very messy. I was thinking it was only me b/c I STILL see all wolfs (Coundting myself in Wolf Form) as all blue with a red head and feet and cant fix that either! Any advice?

This is a known issue. Someone posted it over in Tech Support on the everquest.com forums. EQCSR Roswell, or somesuch, said they knew about it, and were working on it.

It doesnt affect everyone , maybe 10-25% of the eq populace. So please dont come back with "ITS JUST YOU!!!!".

The last patch seems to have increased the number of working links for me from 5-10% , to about 50-75%. I still have problems viewing some links. I have noticed that if one link to UBAH_ITEM_001 doesnt work, then alot of time, any other link I click to the same item doesnt work.

For me, any time an item has a hyphen - or an apostrophe ' in the name of the item, I can't get a link. I would hazard a guess that part of it might be due to the fact that the interface seems to have a problem with hyphens that are printed on screen - i.e. the fact that people have to use 'neg' instead of '-' when listing location coordinates.

Ok. Thanks everyone who replied. I'm just glad to hear its not just me and it is a bug that has been reported.

Eumerin I think they have a problem with apostraphies too...

In bazaar searching for wu gets nothing... searching for wu' get my wu armor to show up... for some reason.

Or does it not let you search with 2 characters?

I have no problems with links in some chanels like the auction chanel but get almost zero info boxes in others like guild chat or group.

There is a three letter minimum for searches in bazaar, that is why wu doesn't work.

I have also heard that the bad word filter messes up some links. I haven't tested this much, but did notice that a couple people with repeat spam in the bazaar had garbled links with the filter on, and normal with it off.

Also, I have heard from a reliable source, that the bad word filter can interfere with the links. I've not had this problem myself, but a good EQ friend said that turning off his bad word filter eliminated his item link problems. Sorry, I can't ever remember the command to toggle on/off the bad word filter.

The filter also results in some unusual (and annoying, albeit understandable) censors. Try discussing a Cockatrice Beak -- a common drop, judging from how many I see on vendors, and a quest item for a Fine Antique Ring from the PoK museum quests.

                      You can't.

It shows up as Fjalehxn4c Beak because the filter catches the first four letters, then nukes the whole word.

Who over 12 leaves the bad word filter on anyhow?

I like to know what people are calling eachother, hehehe.

My experience has been that if a link doesn't work, it's often in a /tell.
Making a temporary chat channel to show the link in (when talking to a friend) seems to work...

                              Not true.

I have had links Shouted, OOC'ed, Auctioned, Guildsay'ed , and over Serverwide chat.

I think it may be related to the individual item itself, not the method of link transmission.
