  • I have began on an Epic Task...

Well like the posting name implies... I have embarked on an epic task. I am trying to make all of the known recipes available from the original game through the last expansion. My character is an Ogre SK and is already well versed in all of the skills available to him. I have alts that work in Tinkering.. Spell Research.. Poison Making and Alchemy.

So I have already done quite a few combines in various skills... perfering to try to get all of the skills done for 1 expansion before I move on to the next as usually the items needed are found in and around the same places. But.. I wanted to see some reactions from the boards and to get some advise from anyone who has tried something similar to this before me.

So what do you all think?

making ALL recipes will be a very big task, unless you rule out all of the cultural recipes. if you mean all recipes available to your characters, that will be a bit easier... some rare drops in tough places there though so good luck

Heh, yep. In order to make ALL recipes, you'd have to skillup a character in each race to 300 in smithing and tailoring (except for dwarves...only need a smith, there.) That would be WAY time consuming. Good luck.

That sounds like fun, I always enjoyed making one of everything for the bonus tradeskill xp in games that have it...

How about an upgrade to the Artisan Charm that keys off number of memorized recipes?

You'd probably want to discount quest related "recipies" as well.

i.e. all those ...combine this thing I give you with that thing that drops somewhere in this container to make something else... recipes too.

Its a huge testament to this website that its difficult enough just to document all known recipes; let alone actually make them.

You should make a video chronicling your adventure like that Dancing Matt guy or something. Best of luck.

And you will of course have to ignore the recipes that no longer work (old spell research, old DoN cultural, old alchemy)

that pesky baking recipe for the extinct fish from Lake of Ill Omen..... And Yes.. I should Clarify myself... I will be making ALL recipes that an Ogre SK can make. I will have my Gnome Pally make all the Tinkering recipes... my DE Rogue make the Poison recipes...my Human Magician make all the Spell Research recipes (along with my Froggy Wizard) and my Ikky Shaman all the Alchemy recipes.

I will have some trouble with all the Alchemy / Poison combines when it comes to the Augments from Omens (there is ssssssooooooo many of them)

have fun with the sublime augs

When you get to the type 11 augs, that's gonna cost you. hmm.. How many Dieties are there? and times 7 slots? Oh.. OOW augs are gonna be fun too. How many discordant scoriaes are you going to need for every combination? Well, if you're doing it expansion by expansion, I assume that you're going to give up long before you make it to OOW.

On our server, there is one player who has all 16 races with elaborate smithing and tailoring enabled (i.e. with at least 275 skill). Don't know how many accounts he has, but technically, it can be done with only 2 accounts.

He has been selling the elaborate sets in bazaar throughout his run. And the day he announced in bazaar that he was done with all 16 races, I was really happy for him.

It's always nice to witness TSers accomplishing such feats. So do report here as you finish each expansion. It'll be like watching the Combine server opening up new expansions.

Come to think of it, that's 8800 skill points needed to accomplish that feat (16 x 2 x 275). That's not counting chars who've gone above the 275 minimum requirement. Although with gnome, you can go the tinkering path and save doing both smithing and tailoring, making it 275 instead of 275 x 2.

The ingredients for some of the baking recipes will be hard to come by, especially without a forager. Extinct fish and discontinued groundspawns will be a real problem, but also rare fish such as Weary Wrass for the Large Slumberfish Pie. I've been stuck on that one for years, although it may be possible now with the zone unlocked to high levels.
