  • Subcombines

I'm sure this has been proposed before, but how about some way to do combines in stacks, instead of one at a time.

I'm thinking mostly of the tedious repetitious subcombines, long since trivial, that are necessary to do higher level stuff. Combining the stacks of items needed to make the items needed to make the items for a single piece, where only that last combine is anywhere close to difficult.

Take the AAAA smithing combines as an example.

Or a more specific example, I've been making silver conduits in order to make silver conduit caps, recently. The silver conduit combine is trivial, but every cap requires first making the conduit itself. Why not allow me to combine 20 sunshard ore with 20 pure silvers, do all the math and tell me whether I got 18 or 19 or 20 finished ores. Salvage would also have to be checked on each of the fails, so there would be some spam generated, but no more so than if I'd actually done the click click click 20 times in a row.

Even a 10 combine or 5 combine combination would improve matters.

Probably you'd want to set it up so you can only do the mass combines if the combine is trivial.

I can also see writing in as drawbacks ideas like:

Salvage doesn't count, or counts only for one fail in the stack. This means laziness has a potential cost, but often these combines are cheap, and fails cost nothing of consequence.

Only a limited list of truely "generic" items can get done this way, the base materials that get made again and again and again.

You have to make a hundred of the item the old fashioned way before you get access to the mass combines

A higher fail rate for doing mass combines

Mass combines are all or nothing; either you succede and get 20 done, or you fail and get none done at all.

Mass combines have a higher fail rate, but not a higher trivial. Or maybe they do have a higher trivial, which leads to a higher fail rate, but if they can't be done UNTIL trivial, still don't lead to a new skillup path.

If done without a minimum skill, then perhaps each mass combine only counts as one combine for skillup purposes.

This idea was largely sparked by doing some mass enchants on my chanter bot as part of the AAAA production... so much easier to do this trivial stuff a bunch at a time!

the idea is somewhere in the posts on this forum

Needs fairly large code changes to make it happen.
