  • Chance of Success

Hi All - returning player from 2005 here.

I been going over the new cultural combines and i noticed alot of items have skills in the range of 400+ trivial.

what i was wondering is at what skill level I should attempt to try and make something so vastly high above my skill and what chances of success are?

To give you an example to work on I am currently a 71 beastlord with 242 tailoring, at 92% evolved Journeyman Tailoring Triophy (modified skill 254) and Tailoring mastery 1/3 (10%)

In considering making myself an eminent chest symbol of terror and elaborate shadowrise cuirass (both trivial 386) but im not sure what success rate i would have.

i'm guessing its beyond my skill right now but what could i be making to turn over a profit instead of mindlessly churning out vendor loot?

The eqtraders calculator http://www.eqtraders.com/calculators...r=130000000000 is a pretty good sounding board for your chances of success on a given combine.

      Calculator

Second on the calculator. I've been delving into much higher research recently and it's given me a good estimate on how much of supplies I need to purchase (based on failure rate) when attempting a spell. As we've all failed on something trivial before it's just an estimate, but seems to be a pretty good one.

For turning a profit, check the market in the baz. Once you can make eminent symbols and elaborate armor, those have been a decent source of profit for me in the past. With the introduction of defiant armor the demand is lower, but there should still be some who would want it. If you are lucky no one else will be making any armor for your race and there is bound to be a diety or two that no one is making symbols for (you are not limited to your own diety).

To craft Elaborate gear you need to buy and scribe the recipie book from the NPCs outside the library in PoK, it requires a raw skill of 275+ if I remember correctly to buy it. (without scribing it, if you try to combine the cultural, it will give a msg the combine seems correct but something is missing).

Depending on your servers market, Feran/Murkglider items, Energeiac gear (requires jewelcraft or tinkering for the precombines) and Meldstone combines might be worth making for skill ups and profit as well.

wow thanks - didnt know about that calculator.

The books you mention dutchy are they in addition to the cultural quests for the ancestral book and impression books? if im understanding it correctly you need the books to create the patterns/templates/molds etc. but i figured once you had them that was all you needed.

I may well consider the Energiac Stuff as I already have 276 JC and some of that would fit nicely onto my enchanter/wizard twinks

lastly i just spent the morning doing epicthiecks power belt (and small power belt) had 47 entrails and hit 252 tailoring with 3 to spare!! wooot now with expert trophy and a modified skill of 272 I'm feeling more confident about finally seeing a profit from my tailoring gonna be a long time before I finally replenish the plat I've invested getting their though.

just need that elusive bloodstone ring for the ancestral book... grrrr.

Yes you need them in addition to the quest books for the patterns to craft the actual cultural items. I'm not sure about the templates, they may still be craftable using the experiment mode, but it's nice to get those books anyways. once you scribe them you will automatically learn all the related recipies so you can easily look them up in your sewing kit/loom.
