I know there has been discussion somewhere about a way to know if you have already bought and scribed a specific book. But, is there any place on this forum that lists the books and what metals/silks/leather they have? Or is it as easy as tin is book one, etc?

The only way I know of to tell if you have scribed a book is to search for those recipes in the tradeskill UI and if ALL of the slots come up then you have scribed it.

As for a list of which template book numbers correspond to what raw materials, Kyros made a spreadsheet that I think has the information you are looking for that can be found here

Aye. If you know the recipe you have scribed the book. That is the current method.

There are plans for more, but they need code resources that are not happening soon.

Also plans to show what is in the book. Also waiting on code resources

Thanks for the info. When I bought the books for this character she had a skill of around 10 or 20, so there weren't a lot of books available for her. Now she's at 50 and is proudly showing off her trophy, but I couldn't remember what books she already had and I don't think she'll see many recipes in the forge if they are too high a level.

I am reasonably certain that if you know the name, and search for the name (or part of the name) it will show even if the trivial is way above your skill.

There's some sort of limit on what recipes you can see in the tradeskill UI. If the trivial is WAY above your skill, you can't see it in the UI, but you can still try it manually. I'm not sure what that limit is, though.

Based on the last two comments, it sounds that if I'm high enough level to buy the book (since buying is level based), then I should be high enough to see the items when I do a search. If that's true, then I should know if I've already bought the highest book I can.

Buying the cultural books is NOT level based.. it is SKILL based. if your skill is 80 then you will not be able to buy the highest books. and you cannot buy the TOP book until your UNMODIFIED skill is 300.

Oops that's what I meant skill based...
