  • Impact of new drops on tradeskills

The Elaborate Defiant items now dropping which are tradeable and wearable at lower levels have pretty high stats and mod2s. They all look to be better than the Cultural items even with exalted augs.

If not nerfed it seems they will impact the need for high level tradeskills as far as making armor and the cultural augs.

Absor already said that there will be changes in the loot. So we'll see what happens with that.

      Hotfix inc

Servers coming down in about an hour from now for a hotfix, so assume the purpose is to adjust the new drops. We'll see how it ends up, I do hope they keep the new drops in, believe they will, but I would still like to have some business for my 300 plus trophy smith.

Theoretically they will be slightly less than cultural, but may not be true in all cases.

Intricate Crystalskin (w/Symbol) vs. Intricate Defiant Leather...

          Why bother with Cultural?

The point of this armor is to get new people back into the game with the Livign legacy promotion. It goes with a more "modern" look at equipment than the few years old that cultural is.

Of course if I can adjust the raid augmetns, I can fix the cultural, because as this shows I have room to improve the group nature of it. But I cannot push the raid stats even further out of wack by not also adjusting them down when the group gets adjusted up.

um.. cultural just got revamped/added to in Nov? so we're talking 7 or 8 months? and getting new people back in the game by giving them BETTER than what current players have? good way to piss off the current PAYING customers. On a chance that what 5% may actually come back to the game?

The adjustment could come in the form of a groupable type 12 aug. That by definition excludes a raid-level type 12 aug, and it simplifies your work, since you no longer have adjust stats on existing items directly.

I'm not even really concerned about the level 65+ stuff... it's the lower-end stuff that absolutely blows Cultural out of the water.

I agree with Kyros. Maybe Im dreaming, but I thought there was talk when SoF came out of a groupable type 12 augment that would be dropping. I think one of the biggest hangups with cultural is that a decent type 12 aug is so hard to get for the casual player. And the raid type 12 is what puts the focus on the armor. If there was a groupable type 12 that either included the focus, or could be combined for a focus effect, it wouldnt have to match raid stats but could be used to bring "groupable" cultural up to par with the groupable Defiant.

                      No.

*IF* I fix cultural it will be a full fix, group and raid. If there are any group 12's they will be stateless with just the foci and such.

Even that would be helpful! While I personally am using the heck out of OoW Augs, I'm not nearly a higher-level character... I've just been around a long time (and not done a lot of XPing in the past 1.5 years. )

Could they possibly also have some Mod-2's?

Say... a Crystal of Healing, which would give some kind of Healing focus, +HP Regen & +Heal Amount

Or a Sheet Rock of Impact, which would give Cleave & +Stun Resist

A Stone of Destructive Might, which would give Ferocity, +Combat Eff. & +Strikethr.

One more thing I have realized, that makes group slot 12 with any stats including mods not doable is that the level 80 armor and symbol ARE at the correct power level. Any stats or mods that would bring the lower level armors to "parity" would blow the level 80 out of proportion as I have no way to keep people from putting these in the level 80 armor. (note I said stats and mods... I am OK with doing focus and such on a "slot 12" group type stuff.

Focus on a type 12? yes please.

I've been wearing cultural on my SK since level 15, and rarely anything but as I levelled him up. About the best thing I have in a slot 12 is a couple OOW cut augments and the rest is LDoN stuff, i.e. +5 str and similar. Most of those do absolutely nothing as stats are maxed anyways. But any kind of focus, especially for my spells would be incredibly useful to get, even combat focii are still appreciated.

Something I can get a drop for in a group, and then make with tradeskills would be my preference.

You have to believe that by the next expansion, if levels rise again, that some DODH raid mobs that drop Type 12 augs will be fairly trivial for almost any group. Shyra is already groupable by 8 to 10 CoA geared toons.
