Type 3 Augs: Intentions?

What are the foreseen implications of the "new" type 3 augs?

Purely tradeskilled?
Bought via some type of ingame currency like crystals, orum, points?
Dropped only?
A combination of all the above?

From my understanding, they are going to be faction based in SoF (similar to some Rk.2/3 spells) and will be sold from vendors.

The problem I forsee is that I do not see MANY useful ones and none that are tradeskill related.

they are often very specific, so will be of variable use to individual people.

Yes and no. They are "in game" but not available.

They're showing up on Lucy's, so they must be available in-game someplace (Test server maybe?) Anyone have details on where to buy them?

They are on the Test Server, and can be bough from any faction type merchant (i.e Ladies of the light, Akanon strike force etc) so far i've only checked the 2 "Faction spell vendors" in dragonscale. The augments themselves are purchased with platinum. The price ranges from 13K up iirc

These items MAY be patched in tonight. (which means available Tuesday, if it goes in)

Looks like the augments are live now, according to the patch message. I think the augments are on multiple faction vendors, if your faction isn't high enough in one camp, you may be able to buy it in another. Initial look seems to indicate you just need apprehensive or better to buy the augments.

If the merchant will sell to you (apprehensive) you can see the augments.

There is only 1 augment per class on any faction vendor.

I have a charm - Steamengineer's Trinket of Station - which has a Slot 2, type 3 aug slot... and it appears there is not a single type 3 aug of any kind whatsoever in the game that will fit the charm slot. Has anyone seen any type 3 augs that will fit in a charm?

I just looked through the list on Lucy and there are none listed for bards. Seems a bit strange!

Currently they are all focus effects.... and focus effects do not work on bard songs.

Prathun and Merloc are responsible for these...

Do the new aug effects stack with items that also have specific spell focus effects.For example the earring that drops in DPB that adds to elthreal conflag?

Demi-Plane earring reduces the mana cost of Ether Flame. How does that have anything to do with an effect that increases the damage of Ether Incineration (and Ether Rime)?
