I've been playing less than a year, and only joined this forum within the past 2 months.

Frustrating, especially for the mods, but had to chuckle at the rickroll...awfully long way to go to get a mass rickroll off.

That being said, string up the jerks and toss a worked suspension of flame at their box.

Aye - although I've been coming here for years for tradeskill recipes, I only recently registered. I found the same email in my inbox this morning when I got to school. I saved it in my fraud folder. Yikes. I am glad to see the board software has been updated. I hate to see trusted sources get hacked.

I've not posted for a while, since I was given EQ2 for my birthday last year and I'm busily trying to learn the post-shattering versions of everything. I figure there's not much point in posting questions until one knows enough to avoid extreme embarrassment by asking reasonably intelligent questions, so...

However, I have visited recently.

My highest EQ2 character, in any sort of leveling, is a 47 carpenter.

I also received the email, which included a reference to Frodlin...

I knew it wasn't the sort of thing Ngreth or Denmum would send, so I figured either they had a temporary new admin with bizarre ideas of humor and integrity... or they got hacked. (Assuming any admin who took such liberties would be temporary... )

Something as major as removing tradeskills from EQ-PC would be hitting a lot more information outlet sources than a single private email! So I knew it couldn't be a "real" message anyhow. Nor is the abrupt, rude style at all in keeping with the spirit of this site.

The first thing I did was check to see if it was sent April 01, but it said April 10, so ... it can't quite qualify as an April Fool's joke.

I didn't follow the link, since it smelled too fishy already.

Who could send an email to everyone on this board?

Odds are some admin got their password stolen because they shared a password on another board (it is possible that this board got directly hacked as well).

In short: all passwords on eqtraders are probably comprimised. All passwords on a number of other eq-like web boards are probably comprimised.

Change your EQ password, right now. You could have accidentally used it on some eq-related board ages ago, and it could get comprimised tommorrow.

Change your board passwords, especially if you would mind people being able to look at your board stuff (PMs, etc). If you use the same password everywhere, whenever one board is comprimised every board is comprimised. . .

Sadly, the solution to that is tricky, as remembering upteen passwords and which password goes with which site is painful. :/

If you use Firefox, and you have your browser save your log-in information, you can find where you need to go.

Click on Tools->Options->Security->Show Passwords. You can see all of your usernames, but you have to click Show Passwords, in that window, to see your passwords.

This will only work if you let Firefox save that information. I think it expires after a while too, but I'm not sure.

There's probably a way to do this with other browsers, but I don't know it.
