I have dinged 300 on smithing, my trophy is at 5/7 about 58%. What is next step? Keep making combines above 300 trivial to evolve trophy? Will there ever be a way to raise skill above 300?

Your next combines over 300 should each level the trophy by about 1% until it's 6/7. Then you'll need roughly 8 combines for each 1% above that until you max it out at 7/7.
The trophy will be +12% at 6/7 and +15% at 7/7. You can't get your raw skill above 300, but your adjusted skill will rise to 336 at 6/7 then 345 at 7/7.

Zolina has it right about the trophy evolution.
As for skill going above 300. If Ngreth decides to raise the skill caps, then yes. At this point in time it does not sound likely because of some other issues that would arise with a skill cap increase, but others feel it is needed to keep progressing tradeskills.Shawlweaver Sphynx on Cazic Thule

There is definitely a possibility of it happening, yes.
there are multiple issues though that need to be addressed first, some of which concern code, some of which concern if I feel I can get rid of the mastery AA's

That is always the choice of the player. I personally think it is not worth it (especially for the smithing trophy) at this level to do the task, unless you already have all the rare supplies (especially the GoD components) already stashed. Farming single items can take several to many hours, only to blow it up and have to farm some more.Originally posted by thipsycho View Posthehe my tropy was 5/7 when i ding 300 too so what i did was the task for new tropy to get 6/7
In this case about 40 successes will evolve the trophy. I know I (and lots of others) have had runs 2-5 times greater than that while trying for a single skill up point.
Again, do what feels right to you.
