    Happening right now as I post this (or within a few minutes if you read it right away) -- From the Official Sony EQ forums:

    Subject: Emergency Restart for Monday, March 10, 2008

    At 12:00 noon PDT, All EQ Live Servers, except Saryrn, will be coming down for a restart to fix an issue with tradeskills. The expected downtime is about 20 minutes. (PDT is -7 GMT: 1:00pm MDT, 2:00pm CDT, 3:00pm EDT, 19:00 GMT)</
    I don't know what the specific issue with tradeskills is, but I thought I would post this for folks.

      an emergency restart for a few broken combines? not likely... more like there was an exploit they needed to fix and put in the TS fix at the same time lol... at least they are working on it.

        Rashere posted on the EQLive boards that the tradeskill combines being broken were merely the first and most visible symptom of what may be a much more serious underlying cause: a number of data files on the affected servers weren't getting loaded properly. So they decided to take no chances and restart all the servers, to ensure that everything has the correct data loaded.

          Daylight Savings Time was putting the servers out of sync, as well, which fubar'd task timers and NPC spawn times and such....

          I.O.W. lots of stuff was wonky and a server reset was needed.

            Heh, guess they blamed the bug on the tradeskillers so they wouldn't have to blame the software guys.

              It is quite clear that the extra increase in cultural armor combines over the last few weeks has increased the total player stats to such vast numbers the servers just could not cope. You know something is wrong when EQ-peen measurement is now a logarithmic scale.

                it was also not just a few combines.

                Tradeskills were flat out broken and non functional in random zones.

                And it was an indication that scripts could also be broken in some zones and that can have much larger and wide reaching effects that in many cases are harder to detect.

                Tradeskills just happen to be easy to test. I went to Saryrn and tried a simple combine and confirmed Tradeskills were broken. server was bounced... and then that combine worked... so all servers got a restart
