  • Darkroot Shamans?

Does anyone know of a good place in Direwind to camp these guys for the Human cultural quest? I went there tonight and there was only one on track.

Got mine in the caves by Wintersting (sp?), the big oak tree. They have phs, and dont pop from the vineherds or gardeners. But you can kill the other shrooms and shaman will sometimes spawn.

Best to scout the cave complex from where Wintersting wanders to the sporali gardens and kill all the shamans that are up. Then pick a camp where you can kill PHs safely (the cave entrances are probably your best bet).

Partner up with other people who are working on the quest too, it makes it go faster. You might also want to make a habit of stopping by once or twice a day to kill the shamans that are up, it's less tedious than killing PHs and waiting for repops.

I set up shop at the south end of the easternmost cave; you can invis all the way there, and nothing is close enough to the vineherd to get its attention.

Had a spawn rate of about 1 in 5 of the non-moldlings in the room, and I killed about 90 shaman to get my six impressions. Be prepared to be here a while. Also killed Psilocide about eight times and Deathshed twice when they popped.

Go in the west entrance. Go through the first room, into the tunnel. At the fork, go right (SE). Move 30 feet or so down the passage (to the south part of the "loop" on the map), and you are now in an area with no wanderers. From here you can pull everything from the first room, and entry tunnel without aggroing the vineherd. And a few more from the tunnel and room behind you. A bit too tight for kiting maybe, though plenty of room to root/rot. It's superior to the east room camp because everything you will be killing is a PH.

Gaell's instructions are perfect. You can invis right to it.

This is a safe corner if you get up on the wall. I've even been able to set a campfire and zone in the rest of the party that way. There is a vineherd in the SW corner of the room but you can easily avoid him and single pull all the mobs you need with out aggro.

I've gone there 4 times now, total of 5 hours, and am 33 of 40 on the kills and 5 of 6 on the impressions. I would say I get 1 to 3 shaman per clearing / respawn. 3 respawns per hour.

            Good luck.

[Edit: Kill 34 of 40 gave me impression 6. Now at 35 of 40. Just need to spawn 5 more. Those who had to kill 90 had a bad run of the RNG for sure!]

That is the same camp I pulled, just setting up in a different spot. I tend to go for slightly longer pulls so I can CoH if something goes wrong.

You have to kill the other regular mushrooms, and just hope to see some on respawn.

Thanks for the info folks! I've started camping in that room just off the west entrance and it seems like a great spot to get the Shamans, not to mention some gems for JC

This is by far the best camp. You can pull from 2 differnt rooms + some pathers. I 3 boxed all my shaman in about 5 hours at this spot.

I have killed something over 200 PH so far. I have 20 shamans killed, and 1 impression.

If this rate keeps up, I will have to kill 120 shamans, and 1200 warriors.

                      Bleah.

You should be able to Keke, use the relatively-safe camp spot mentioned above, and have the mage pet tank if possible. And keep your top buff slot free so you can dispel Malo.
