  • Culture would they ever?

Would they ever consider making it so a char could make two different race cultures instead of one? like maybe a aa or something. On my server there are races that people just dont play and makes it very hard for people to get culture. Its just a idea.

It's even more likely now that cultural armor is now officially considered over-powered. To be balanced, it would have to be changed, but that won't happen because people screamed so loudly. So instead, "cultural armor as we know it" has been locked down. It's ineligible for farther extensions.

It would kind of be cool, if they do another version of cultural in the future, to make a separate tool for each culture. That way, there could be a separate, harder version of each culture's quest for non-natives.
I tried combining Celestial Solvent, a Raw Rough Hide, Rough Hide Solution and a Skinning Knife. But the result was such an oxymoron, it opened a rift into another universe. I fell through into one of Nodyin's spreadsheets and was slain by a misplaced decimal.

Perhaps you did not mean it this way, but if no-one is playing a race - then why would you need armor for that race?

Surely the real issue is that low population races have less tradeskillers - which is a tradeskill popularity issue not a race issue. There have been widespread improvements to tradeskills, especially Smithing and Tailoring within the last year. Maybe more advertising is needed for Tradeskills so that low population races realize it is not "someone elses job" and that the best way to get cultural armor is to make it yourself.

Actually he said that it would not continue in it's current form. I look at it as a glass half full and that, after a change of concept, cultural armor and symbols will enjoy a continued robust existance in future expansions.

I guess, if the devs really want the armor to die out, they could skip making cultural armor with the upcoming expansion. Instead, they could do a weapons revamp, with some focus effect items like in PoP. Combined with the poison revamp Ngreth's been mulling, that gives tradeskills a nice boost in the offensive department, which it has been lacking for a while.

The expansion after that (due November 2009), the new series of cultural could be introduced. Players will then be ten levels over the cap of the old (current) cultural, with two expansions worth of gear with which to compete. The old cultural will die a natural death, much like blue diamond armor did in its day, and the new cultural can take over. The king is dead, long live the king.

I pretty much realized quickly that as a Vah Shir, I would need to make my own if I wanted cultural armor, so I got my skills high enough, got the gloves from VT for my modifier and made it. I also realized, that if I were a high-skilled vah shir, that others may need my stuff too, so I started selling it.

Fast forward, I have made a lot of plat selling armor and symbols. Have spent most of it also getting non-cultural tradeskills to max(Read: Fletching, Jewelcraft) but it was worthwhile for me.

Bottom line, do the work yourself, become a master smith or tailor or both depending on your race. Not only will you be able to get your armor, but you can sell it too.

Pretty much the same track I followed as a Vah Shir. For a while back when DoN was new I was the only one on Maelin making GM cat armor and enjoyed significant profits even tho I purchased nearly all of my supplies in the bazaar. I didn't overcharge people, but there was such a high volume that I was crafting more armor sets nearly every time I logged on to keep up with it. I still do a steady business of elaborate armor and eminent symbols even with a couple competitors now.

So, lesson learned for those races that can't seem to buy cultural armor, skill up and supply that segment of the market, you won't be sorry. In my opinion, allowing cross cultural armor crafting isn't needed and should never be allowed to happen.
