  • sunshard/faycite seals - manufacture options

Seeing as bazu and last blood seals had alternate manufacture processes (tinkering), sunshard and faycite seals do not. Can a recipe be added for tinkering to let them match?

    Thanks

These can be made with tinkering.

The recipes just have not yet been submitted to EQTC is a more likely explanation.

Ordinarily I'd think so, but there are no "sunshard parts mold" or "faycite parts mold" for sale on the merchants, as there are for all the lesser augs.

That's more likely a mistake about putting the items on the vendors than about forgetting to put the recipes in. I'd have to concur about them just not being in the database. If you try one and get DNCs, obviously, then I'd recommend a post on the EQLive forums, since the devs are more likely to notice there.

The recipes for the seals was changed back when the cultural armor was revamped.

Serpant and Sunshard seals now require Titanium Ore as a dropped component and Faycite seals require Tantalum ore.

If you look at the difference between smithing and tinkering the Last Blood seals it is I think adds 4 Gnomish Heat Sources to the recipe.

Replace the Last Blood water with the proper water and update to the proper dropped component (instead of the cobalt ore for LB seals) and you should get the seals you are seeking.

          Vial of Purified Mana
          Platinum Bar x2
          Gnomish Heat Source x4
          Serpent/Sunshard Water
          Titanium Ore
          Seal Pattern

          Platinum Bar x2
          Gnomish Heat Source x4
          Faycite Water

          Give these a try.

So the mistake more is that the other stuff is still on a vendor wasting space

The old recipes for the seals still worked the last I had heard.

If the old recipes using the Bazu Steel and Last Blood Steel (and chronal/discordant as well) still need the last blood parts mold are still functional then they may be needed.

The way I understood the seals changing was that the LB and lower seals could be made either way but that the new seals would require the new drops.

So does this mean that those particular seals no longer require a nodrop raid component, just the ores? I'm trying to get my head around all the new smithing stuff and seals are making my brain hurt.

No, the seals are one of the 4 tradeable components used in the final combine:

                  Last Blood Seal
                  Epicthiek's Lubricating Goo
Last Blood (this is the raid drop)
                  __________ Mechanoinstructions
combined in an Ambleshift's Amazing Automated Amalgamator
Makes Last Blood of the _____________

One note, if in fact the new recipes don't use the molds, the text needs to be updated for the book "Seals of Darkhollow". It still says:
"Gnomes that want to do this work as one of their devices will still need to follow the pattern. Instead of water, they will melt the steel that the smiths use in a mold, specific for each metal, heat it with four gnomish heat sources, and coat it with two platinum bars, and cool it with some pure liquid mana."

                      Vial of Purified Mana
                      Platinum Bar x2
                      Gnomish Heat Source x4
                      Sunshard Water
                      Titanium Ore
                      Seal Pattern

                      make a Sunshard Seal

                      But

                      Vial of Purified Mana
                      Platinum Bar x2
                      Gnomish Heat Source x4
                      Last Blood Water
                      Cobalt Ore
                      Seal Pattern

                      DNC

But if you substitute the Parts Mold:

                      Vial of Purified Mana
                      Platinum Bar x2
                      Gnomish Heat Source x4
                      Last Blood Parts Mold
                      Cobalt Ore
                      Seal Pattern

                      Makes a Last Blood Seal.

So we can tinker the new seals, but we just didn't have the recipe until now since it doesn't follow the lower level pattern (or the in game instructions).

Really, for consistancy, you should either:
                      a) change the book text, and change the Chronal through Last Blood recipes (including the "legacy" recipes) and remove the parts molds.
or b) Add parts molds for Serpent's through Faycite, and change those recipes to match the pre-existing pattern.

When I had worked to make the Sunshard and Serpent ones initially I just took the "new" method of making a LB symbol with smithing and added the 4 GHS. I missed the old tinkering method using the mold instead of the water.
