  • Eminent Aug Quest

Just attempted this tonite. Went in and down ramp and setup camp at bottom of ramp. Was pulling 2-3 goblins per spawn cycle. In 6 hrs only 1 mender spawned.

I poked around a lil and found another room that had 2 spawns in it, but other than that I didn't see anything.

Obviously there must be another spot for these things, so asking for input from someone who's done the task =)

lol ok I just finished this portion. They are rare spawns best spot I found had 1 roamer goblin and 3 static goblin spawns right infront of a tunnel that opened into a room that had 3 more static goblin spawns on the first half of the room and 2 more on the other half of the room across the bridge. To get to this area invis and go into the tunnels and stay left IIRCC. You will come to 1 see invis drake.

What I did was set up camp at the edge of the drop off near the static goblins outside the main room. Kill the wander goblin then the 3 statics. Invis, moved into tunnel. Killed the wandering croc then cleared the first half of the room. This was about all I had time for before the repop's outside. This gave me about 7 goblin spawns. I saw 2 menders on avg every 14 spawns. Ofcorse I had my 10 goblin kills long before my 2 pattern updates but it wasn't awful only needed an extra 4-6kills after that. I spent about 6hrs trying before I found this spot, then spent about 10hrs getting finished with it. I was solo and occasionally afk but its a long camp at roughly 1/hr.

    GL.

Oh yes, these are rare spawns indeed. I still need 1 more goblin kill, along with 1 impression, so looks like I'm going to be killing more than 10 of these goblins. Just kill any flameweave goblin you come accross, and it has a chance to respawn as a mender. Don't forget to carry your book with you either, as I think if you don't have your book, you won't get impressions.

Correct. you have to have the impression quest, have the impression book on you and you cannot be in shroud form.

I am still killing the strong sentinels in Thundercrest for this quest. I spent 5 hours yesterday and only got 5 of them and got no impressions. I am duoing with my 76 mage and can keep the entire large room of mobs in the NNW part of the maze clear before repops. The spawn rate on these mobs are too low and the impression rate is also too low. I liked the old quests better.

Do you have the impressions quest book in your inventory?

Yes I have the book in my inventory. I have been reading all the threads on this site on how/where to kill in Thundercrest. I am killing the right mobs (armored sentinels along with every other sentinel in the maze plus any drakes that are see invis and get in my way). Seems like most people who have posted are spending 20+ hours on the sentinels and 30+ hours on the menders. So over 50 hours to do this one quest. I find that excessive.

Sounds like its about right. Thundercrest was very hit or miss for me actually. I spent all day in there with only like 5 spawns, then came back and it seemed very other mob was a sent. As for weather or not its "excessive" that purely depends on the quality of the item, then again only a select few have claimed tradeskilling was easy.

I have killed 7 strong sentinels now. Still 0 for 5 on the impressions. I double checked and I do have the eminent book in my top level bag.

Be aware that the see invis mobs aren't consistent. One spawn cycle there will be a see invis and next there won't. It's a lot easier to get in position when there's no see invis. Heck, there's sometimes a roaming see invis in Thundercrest, but usually if you kill it, it'll respawn non-SI.

Where I camped: Cross the bridge over the lava, exit the far side of that room. Take the next right. The hallway there contains two lava walkers, which seemed like a reasonable amount of trash to keep cleared, but there are some roamers that should be kept down, because they'll agro you in the hall.

There are two placeholder in the room nearest, and two more on the nearest side of the room with the bridge. There's at least 1, maybe two more down the other hallway between the camp and the bridge.
I tried combining Celestial Solvent, a Raw Rough Hide, Rough Hide Solution and a Skinning Knife. But the result was such an oxymoron, it opened a rift into another universe. I fell through into one of Nodyin's spreadsheets and was slain by a misplaced decimal.

I popped into Thundercrest on 3 different occasions and killed for a couple of hours each time. I had no problem at all in finding the sentinels, and often when I zoned in there would be 1 or 2 spawned. This was during the server instability when the servers where up and down every few days which might have helped, however, I found the quest as friendly as any other where you have to camp. The respawn time is fast enough, and solo I could not keep more than about 8 mobs (sentinels) cleared in the maze.

The Nest is a different problem for me as I cannot do it solo, so will probably take a group in there and pull the whole goblin area. I really cannot see that being a problem either, as most times scouting it out, there are at least 4 or 5 mender mobs spawned. The pull area is huge with 3 or 4 rooms minimum and connecting passages.

I did the old quests also (gnome) and these new ones are as good/bad as the old ones. For some classes though I can believe they are vastly better (coarse salt??). Personally I like the new quests in design and implementation.

I tried where you're talking about first and it didn't have a lot of luck. I'd really suggest finding the hall that has 3 static goblins and 1 roamer goblin. inside that room has several more, less moving and easier to keep clear.

Yes, I don't think my way was optimal. I should borrow that disclaimer that says, "I play EQ wrong. Don't try to copy me."

The one possible advantage to where we camped it was how little we had to clear to actually get into position. That's not much of an advantage when you consider how long you're going to be staying there.

If it's any consolation, the exalted and sublime camps are even worse. The reavers in Fortress Mechanotus for the sublime have about 10 possible PH's each and they all hit for 1500 or so, and you have to kill 40 of them. And it's hard dragging people to do them because there are no named mobs in the area, unlike the other camps in the zone.

                              ? broken quest ?

I have now killed 12 out of 20 of the strong sentinels. I am still 0 for 5 on the impressions. Yes I have the eminent impressions book with me while I kill. Given the impression rate is supposed to be 30% chance per a post by Ngreth I suspect that this quest is bugged at the moment. What would be the best way of finding out if it is really bugged and the best way to get it fixed if it is bugged? Thanks.
