Likelihood of Serpent, Sunshard and Faycite Drops

Trying to get a sensing of how often Serpent and Sunshard essenses for seals drop compared with Last Bloods.

My guild's experience since December is that these drop at maybe a quarter of the rate that the Last Bloods dropped in Demi or ToB.

Any others have experience with these in TSS or TBS? Are we just unlucky, or do these seem to drop at a lower rate than the Last Bloods?

Have just started FC raids (done with FC1) and gonna start FC2 this coming week. Have yet to see one in Valde raids (odeen/udengar) or FC1 raids so far.


We have seen I think 3 total and done several runs in AG raids. We have gotten 1 from Sothgar, 1 from Dynleth, and 1 from Lethar 1.0.

This is with probably 6 or so clears of AG:north through Dynleth. Have heard Armies event in AG doesnt drop them, so part of it could be that only certain events can even drop the item to begin with where as Demi and TOB is almost all mobs can drop them.

We have had nights in Demi where we get 4 LBs in 6 events too.

Drop in AG north of DynLeth, Lethar 2 , I seen Soothgar drop one once

I seen one drop in FC 1 once, other than that The king himself in FC 2 for serpants shards

So it looks like one every 2-3 clears then rather than the 2-3 per clear we were getting on Last Bloods in Demi.

Hrrmmm...I hope that if they do nerf the last Bloods, they make drops a bit more common. I'm not as violently opposed to readjustment as I was before, but if they do want to go with a 'set' comment, the components should drop enough to make 'sets' a more viable option.

We tend to see one every 3 to 5 events in AG North, and have also seen at least one per FrostCrypt-2 clearing. In all the AG East/West clearings we've done int the past few months we've only seen one Serpent seal on those (droped on sothgar one time), and never in FC1, so they are likely very rare drops in FC1, AG-East, AG-West, and maybe once per clear in AG-North & FC2, so your guild may see 2 serpents a week, 3 if you're lucky (we got lucky last week), or 0 if you're unlucky (we've been there too). Also, these are only on main events, not aug events.

Those seem to be similar numbers to what I have seen. Had another one drop from Dyn'leth army, but none from Lethar1.0 or Dynleth. Didn't have time for Lethar 2.0 last night.

These seem to me to be rarer than Last Bloods were in demiplane. But that could be by design. Since the focus effect is on par with other foci on dropped armor (with a powersource) there is a slight reason for why they are rarer.

In Solteris the Faceted Sunshard will drop almost never before Irissa, sometimes from Irissa and Commodus, and almost if not always from 2-Gods.

In SoF from something like 6 tier-3+ events we saw only one Faycite.

I received a Faceted Sunshard from Solteris 1 tonight...2/9/08

Unfortunately, Faycites appear to be very rare. My guild has received only 2 Faycites as of yet, which can drop from any t3 SoF event (Ralkor/Bimbalicus/Mansion events). By my count, we have 26 t3 kills, giving a (so far) average of about 8% chance to drop Faycite.

So bottom line, then, it appears the TSS/TBS/Faycite essences for seals drop at a lower rate than LB's do in Demi/TOB. (Example: LBs drop from Demi Tier 1 and Tier 2, ToB bosses, while they seem to drop only drop from Tier 2 in TSS or T3 Solteris.)

Thanks - I wanted to confirm my hunch.

Think it's important to know so that if SOE does nerf LBs as it is considering, in favor of encouraging 'sets,' then we can advocate for increasing the number of mobs that can drop components for the later seals.

Serpent's Essence We've had 14 drop from 11/14/07 to 1/31/08

Faceted Sunshard We've had 15 drop from 11/19/07 to 1/29/08

As for last bloods from 11/14/06 to 1/31/07 we have 35 last bloods

thats from our dkp page on whats been looted and rooted in case of last bloods

last bloods seem alot more common if you don't consider we would clear demi plus some tob targets and dk flagging raids which all drop lastbloods

compared to the 7 events in solteris which is 8 possible sunshard drops (2gods can drop 2 as it spawns 2 chests)

FC/ag we only really clear north and fc2 raids none show droped from west/east ag or fc1 events as we were working solteris and only so much you can get done in a raid week

The comparison doesn't make sense unless you also post how many raids you had for for each. Not to mention that DPoB has more raid targets.

Well we cleared 4 events in FC2 and got 1 serpent essence, still have not seen one from either armor dropping mob in FC1.

There are 6 events in AG and 7 events in FC that I think even have a chance to drop the essence. There are 9 events in Demiplane that can drop them. Yet it was common to get 2-3 per clearing of DP and get 1-2 per clearing of AG:N, FC1/2.
