Dev imput on research drop rate

I was wondering if you could increase the drop rate papryus, hides, and spell scrolls , and binding powder. I mean silk drops like mad, ore drops like mad, i even get the old words at a faster rate. At least the lower level spell stuff makes it kind of hard to help people starting the game i like to make them stuff for free to try and help them along ect. Would be nice ... just a thought ..example i have been in BoT for 2.5 hrs slaying stuff im lvl 80 with 17k mana and all 65 % focus you can imagine ..i have got 1 research drop and a crapload of ore silk ect ...makes me sad

make sure the mobs you are killing are (pure) CASTERS (wiz, chanter, mage, necro, cleric, druid, shaman) and not hybrids or MELEE types with proc spell effects.

Only casters drop the research stuff.

Yea , Just think its like not right everything drops the other tradeskill items and just casting mobs that are humanoid type drops research tradeskill items. Here is another example....

Spent 2 hours in Cyrpt Of Decay killing the mice men I got about 10 research drops 3 powders and 2 partchments and 4 papryus.

At the same time i got about 25 silks that i looted about the same amout of ore that i didnt loot ..ok i can deal with that but then i got 7 bonded loam , 5 Hermic marrow , 4 fine spinner fluid, 1 superb spinner fluid, 1 execellent spinner fluid.

So i mean according to that loam and marrow and fluid are more common than papryus, powder and partchments

In my opinion if every mob humanoid can drop silk, loam,marrow,ore,alchemy then those same mobs should drop research stuff too. Like i said makes it really hard. a Papryus makes a spell 56-60 if someone is selling the fine runic pap for 7k then i in theroy would need to charge someone like 8k for a lvl 60 spell on my server anyway. I dont want to charge them anything I dont need aa id rather just spend time farming it and just make them for free try to help out newer players so they dont have to go threw what i did to get their spells.

I don't disagree with ou, I'd love to see the drops be a little more common...maybe Ngreth has to juggle the weighting of the cultural vs research drops on caster types, so that teh research drops will be more frequent than the cultural (but the cultural stuff will still drop, just less frequently on those particular mob types)....

..or maybe eliminate Dweric Powder as a drop on a ton of mobs...and replace with research drops....dweric powder drops WAY to frequently for the few times folks are gonna use it to make Elegant charms, hehe

The papers actually make the end-product of research (spells).

The powders don't, they make clicky scrolls (which are expendable). I think that the clickies are supposed to be the skillup route -- so the rate of drop of the powders should be "silk like", while the rate of drop of papers should be "fluid like"?

I think of it a little diffrently. I agree that the vellum the 66-70 spell paper should be uncommon. Then ok 61-65 parchment a little more common at least the same rarity as ethereal and Spectral partchment that can be turned in to achieve the same thing not the rarity they are now.
Then we have 56-60 papryus 99% of the spells that these make players have upgrades for with increased levels that are vendor sold. SO by keeping these are rare as they are is just stopping people from even trying and makeing it harder to go without them threw this part of the game possibly causeing them to quit.
Then the 51-56 spell partchments so these make a few LDoN spells. People still arn't doing LDoN's to attain them just have to do WAY to many in the mean time you can do stuff like kill mobs in skyfire moutains till your nose bleeds and hope you get your drops. " i did this ...back before luclin came out" Took roughly 2 months not to mention xp is going to be slow there compared to hotzones or newer zones AND most of these spells have upgrades that are vendor purchased OTHER than the remove curse line.
That leaves hides ... most of these spells are vendor purchased anyways except a few pure caster research only ones from that era in the game with was the reason for me to get my research skill to 200 with words back then " that took forever" So these should drop like candy.I camped the LoIo fort for like 2 hrs one day just to make a poor guy harmsheild that started 8/

The powders being a fast skillup method should be increased mabe a hair. Even though anyone who is a researcher is outta their mind anyways. I have about 14 bank slots " just for spell research" It is fairly easy or keep the drop the same and increase the dammage on rune and ornate to something a person might actually use. At the moment the price for powder in the bazaar i would have to sell a scroll that does 300 dammage for like 1100 pp . Now thats a litttle silly.

it is pretty much 10% across the board, from any caster.

I can consider increasing it a bit, but it will not be something I do soon as I will want a while to percolate on it.

That would be killer man.
Like i said above in the lower level places. I even went to PLane of storms and there is a big camp of straight caster giants. I did get more research components vrs my time but i still got more Loam,spinner fluid and , marrow than i did this stuff 8/.
Don't get me wrong i will farm the stuff reguardless just be nice if the non top end ones dropped more " spell papers" i realize the binding powder is basicly for skillups.
