  • New Tradeskill AA Ideas

We've been asked to put together a wish list of new AAs. So if you have any, please let me know, and I will compile a list and forward them on.

I'm not sure if Nodyin was looking for only "classes", but he cracked open the door, so I'll slip our ideas thru it as well.

Don't worry about whether the code can support it. Just be creative.

Enhanced salvage that excludes any vender purchased items. Intention is that if a salvage check is successful it will not return a flask of water over an exquisite marrow.

Pack Animal AA. Gives another bag space on inventory window!

More levels of salvage would be nice.

Sometimes, it is nice to salvage that "expensive" vendor item as well as the dropped part.

Not a new request, but a modification of existing AA: lower or remove the level requirements on all tradeskill AA (goes hand in hand with making AA obtainable at levels below 51).

An AA that gives you a chance to recover a component on a success. Call it "Thrifty Use" or something like that. Works like salvage, but gives a LOW chance (maybe 1%, 2%, 3% for three tiers) to return a consumed component on success. Kind of like a tradeskiller's Reagent Conservation focus.

An AA that gives you virtual item slots. The only thing that can go in those slots is skill mod items. Think of it like tribute; each tribute ability is an invisible item worn by your character. This AA would grant you one slot per rank, and you can permanently place one item in each slot (probably through a quest. Hand your skill mod item to an NPC, and he'll return it, plus place an equivalent skill mod item in your AA slot). The item must have a tradeskill mod on it. Basically, it's an AA that allows you to get the benefits of your skill mod item (that you already have) without having to have it physically on you.

I am not a foraging class and my itty bitty alt druid has like, 100 skill or something.

However, a coupl eof ideas come to mind:

Foraging classes have asked in the past for a "Foraging Filter" type of AA, that would not increase the %chance of getting a specific foraged item, so much as automatically destroy/discard unwanted items. You could only filter for ONE item at a time. the %chance that you would get item ABC off the forage tables would NOT change...you simply would never see all NON "ABC" items because you don't want them (equivalent of an experienced forager walking in the woods, looking for mushrooms, and NOT picking up those herbs and berries because that's not the focus of his foraging expedition.)

Also, since rangers got an Auto Fire AA, why not an Auto Forage AA (combined with auto inventory) suitably tuned with normal refresh delay, but saves the forager from constant button mashing...maybe with a time limit so after X amt of time (say 1 hour) it stops (can't run indefinately/forever)

            ex:

The forager in PoJ is looking for Planar fruit, so he toggles the Filter AA and gets a pop up of all available forages in that zone, and clicks on Planar Fruit. Every time he forages he will get an emote that says that he foraged Planar Fruit ...OR...He foraged item XYZ but "discarded" it as it was not desired.

Then, he clicks on Auto- Forage and it runs for an hour & automatically inventories all those fruit...everything else (water, grubs, roots, whatever) was automatically "discarded" (either dropped to the ground or simply destroyed or never generated by the server at all)

This would not increase the rate at which items are foraged, it would just allow the highly skilled foragers to ignore the stuff they didn't need.

Extra-dimensional Bank Bag: Once per day, you can open the bank UI anywhere you are. I know there've been many a time where I've needed something out of my bank and have been nowhere near one. Wouldn't be abusable with a long refresh, but would be convenient for those single-use times. Assumed difficulty of implementation: easy. As if you had clicked on a non-existant banker.

Tradeskilling by Rote: Lower the threshhold on very trivial items before they become "easier". For instance, you get 1% per 40 points now. They become effectively no-fail at 200 points above trivial. Lower that 40 to 30, 20, 10 for ranks 1-3, respectively. At rank 3, something trivial over 50 pts would be no-fail. Assumed difficulty of implementation: unknown. It really depends on how that "40" is coded in. It could be a simple number change, or it could be a nightmare.

Previous requirement mastery 3 and possibly trophy 7

This ability gives the user <insert %> chance of producing double the yield of the product.

                Rank 1 - items under 100 trival
                Rank 2 - items under 200 trival
                Rank 3 - items under 300 trival
                Rank 4 - items under 400 trival
                Rank 5 - items under 500 trival

Previous requirement mastery 3 and possibly trophy 7

This ability allows the user to study one other race in making cultural gear. Can only be used once in either smithing or tailoring.

Each rank would correspond to the different armor levels but would stop one short of the best. example My barbarian smith could make dwarf smithed elaborate with all ranks and under but not elegant. This is restricted to just dwarfs.

I'd love a "Start Over" AA, it's like salvage except it gives you a small chance to recover everything on a failed combine, not just one or two of the items.

To piggy back on Maevenniia's suggestion, perhaps a coding rework of forage would be in order to treat it more like a tradeskill with "learned" recipes based on items you successfully forages from a particular zone in the past under the original system. Once you've learned the "recipe" you can get an AA that allows you to focus on foraging that item with some bonus beyond the normal chance but no chance to forage something else. Effectively once you know what youre looking for you know where to look with better accuracy and are ignoring other things you might find.

I am the Crowned Prince of the Salvaged Water Flask.

Count me in on a new AA that improves the usability of the Salvage line. I am aware such a system would entail providing every recipe ingredient a "weight" in order to prioritize what items have a greater rarity/value associated. Its a giant rework, so I have little hope of such a thing. Still, its a nice item for the wish list.

Improved Mastery lines, which would be quested, with availability based on skill level (as opposed to how many monsters I've killed). No new skill-based tradeskill AA's funded by combat, please.

Tradeskill AA's available at lower character levels. Again, I'm aware this impacts the AA system in general and not just tradeskill related stuffffffs.

AA to increase the trivial level at which combines become zero-fail (similar to the way Mastery of the Past allows for no-fizzle up to a certain spell level).

AA to allow the chance to produce additional yield on a successful combine. Example: with this AA I have the chance to produce 5 Celestial Cleansers as opposed to the standard 4 preset by the recipe. Note: Only affects recipes which already yield multiple items.

I'll have to stew a while to see if any more spring to mind!

I think that is a great idea!

                          Along similar lines, what about:

                          The Art of Fighting

Previous requirement: Research Mastery 3 and a skill of 300.

This ability allows int casters to study melee techniques such that they can scribe instructions to teach others. (i.e. make tomes researchable)

Each rank would raise the level of skill you can study enough to effectively share the knowledge.

I like the idea but as opposed to a list I would like to be able to have a tradeskill container open; enter a difficulty range (ie 185 to 220 skill) and then trigger the AA. This would list the recipies (up to 50 or so?) that

A.) I have previously learned or is a default recipie.

B.) I have at least one of the tradeskill items to make either in my bags or in my bank.

This would help me use my tradeskill items wisely and help me find what items I am missing and need to aquire to work on raising my skill.
