Ultra Newb question, sorry I searched

I don't get a list of recipes when using the forge, am I missing something? When I played the tutorial it showed a bunch of recipes for baking the rat steaks so I assumed it was automatic except for rare recipes, I've been using experiment so far but I'd like to know what I need to do to get the recipes shown.

What were you looking for? if you just wanted to see what could be made at your skill level I'd suggest altering the min/max skill options on the tradeskill containers to something close to your level or just above if you are trying to gain skill up's. That should provide you with a list. If there isn't anything showing try making it a wider selection. You don't need anything in the text box to search.

The range was skill 0 to 500 so I thought it was standard, it's should still show something right?

I'm clueless, I quit 5 years ago and just came back sorry.

When you open the container, it will display your "favorite" recipes. If there are some combines you are working on to raise a skill or frequently use, you can search for them and add them to the favorites list. Otherwise, you will need to search for the recipes you are looking to make. Some do come available to all and some have to be learned. Experiment once and succeed and you should learn the recipe and then be able to reopen the tradeskill UI and find it in there unless the recipe is special and marked as not learnable.

Also, some recipes can only be learned by scribing them from special books/notes/scrolls. These are typically quest recipes (from SoF) or cultural armor (not template) recipes.

The problem could be the mode:


There are two modes experiment and tradeskill UI.

There is a toggle in the Options menu to switch the default when you open.

Ctrl + Right_click will also open the Tradeskill UI.

Sounds like his problem is just that in the tutorial the rat steaks are auto-displayed upon opening the container - like favorites. But outside of that, you will have to hit search to display any recipes (given that no favorites are selected yet), then add recipes to favorites to get them to display as soon as you open the container.
