? about gnome and trade skills

I was wondering if by being a Gnome that is in the process of tinkering. But I need to make cultural silk armor for her. Do I need to do tailoring to get the templates to do the tinkering combines, or is there a way to get the templates for tinkering only to make the cultural armors? I did the quest for the book to do the cultural armor but it only list the items needed to do the tailoring and smithing methods.

Also with out any AA at all could a Gnome take 2 skills like tailoring and tinkering above the 200 skill level? Since the tinkering is a gnome only trade skill.

You'll need the tailoring skill to do the templates.

You can use either the gnome tailoring skill or the tinkering skill to do the armor.

You can raise both tailoring and tinkering above 200 without AAs.

You can start leveling tailoring at lvl 1. You can only start leveling tinkering at lvl 16.

A faster way to raise tinkering but more expensive is to do the sunshard combines to make conduits.These can then be used to raise tailoring/smithing/fletching:-)

Ok, and thank you for the help on this as I am fairly new to doing trade skills for Gnomes.

So it looks like I will just go the tailoring route to make my little Gnome necro her armor and augments. As I really don't have the plat to go both routes of tinkering and tailoring on my level 53 Gnome wizard. Who right now has tinkering at 108.

But in order for me to do the cultural tailoring I have to have a Gnome sewing kit made from a Gnome smither right?

Yes.

Sewing Kit can only be made by Gnome smith, trivial 162.
Needle can be made by any smith, trivial 132.

Smithing the kit isn't really as bad as it might sound. It took an alt with a starting smith skill of 15 exactly 10 attempts to make the Cabilisan sewing kit the other day. And he got a skillup on almost every attempt.

Just be patient and give it a try yourself if you can't find someone to make one for you.
