  • Price trend on Alkalai/Flawless spin/Superb Mar

    HI guys

Just curious if this trend on my server is global across all. A week ago I could get the above 3 for under 15k normally around 11k.

Now there are very few for sale and when they are they are amost always over 20k. I had been charging 35k to 40k per symbol but I am running out of stock. If i am forced to buy in these high prices I probably will either raise my price or stop making them.

It's very rare for any tradeskill item to remain above component cost / success rate for a long period of time. People recognize an easy way to gain platinum and mass-produce it, the market gets flooded, and soon supply exceeds demand and the prices drop.

There was an adjustment to the drop rates of these components to the appropriate level mobs and perhaps you are seeing the effects of the supply of them drying up slightly as people were getting these drops from content that was easier than intended. Another potential cause could have been the massive influx of these items into the game from the pre-launch drops as well as the people all pushing to level up. The mobs that dropped these items were ideal for leveling, but are not that good of exp for those who are already 80. They are in some of the harder content that may or maynot drop these.

Prices also can fluctuate, and these could come back down in the future. I have not been following the price on these over the past week or so, but I would recommended using a buyer to set the price you want to pay (or are willing) and that can still yield some items for you to work with.

Some good general advice is to set a target sales price and stick with it. If the thing you're selling is in demand, people will buy it. If others come in with a much lower cost - buy and resell their items. For cultural armor, I'd pick a specialty that sells well and stick with it; others coming in will tend to choose other flavors. And, yes, I'd be buying them up at the higher prices and marking up the sales price accordingly. Change or no change that is a very nice piece of gear for a very reasonable price.

A word of caution when it comes to reselling: Be careful. If you run across a market with low demand or if your new competitors have a large stock of components, you can quickly find yourself in a world of hurt.

Reselling is best in high demand markets with a lot of turnover. You don't have to make huge profits per item, the shear quantity of items passing through your hands will make up for the small per item profit.
