  • Calculator Accuracy?

Not asking you to give us hard numbers, Ngreth, but just to confirm something I've noticed on the calculators here.

Purely regarding skillup percentage: does it make a difference if I succeed or fail on a Tailoring combing? Seems to me it doesn't matter if I burn Pristine, Fine, or Excellent.. or if I could, Superb... I still have the same 10.1% chance of skillup.

    470 INT, 205 Tailoring, Tailoring Mastery 1, 8% mod:
    Attempting a 272 combine...
    Adjusted Skill = 221
    Success chance = 71.65%
Chance of skill up on Success: 10.1%, on failure: 10.1%, overall 10.1%

    Attempting a 310 combine...
    Adjusted Skill = 221
    Success chance = 46%
Chance of skill up on Success: 10.1%, on failure: 10.1%, overall 10.1%

    Attempting a 340 combine, in case it's a "100" point line...
    Adjusted Skill = 221
    Success chance = 25.75%
Chance of skill up on Success: 10.1%, on failure: 10.1%, overall 10.1%

    Success/Fail matters to a point.

If your stat is beyond a certain number, it no longer matters whether you succeed/fail.

For tailoring, having your int/wis 415 or more is that breaking point. So, for a 470 int/wis, success no longer matters.

Here's the full list of what your stat would need to be to have them equal:
    Alchemy 815
    Baking 615
    Brewing 615
    Fletching 800
    Jewelcrafting 815
    Poison Making 400
    Pottery 815
    Smithing 400
    Tailoring 415
    Tinkering 415

      Thanks for the clarification, Twist.

Now, if I could only convince Ngreth to drop the minimum-skill-to-attempt on the Superbs.. I'd blow through the six stacks I've got...

You might want to look into making seals. You can make Bazu and Last Blood seals with Superb Pelts at any skill level.

Make templates. They do not have a required skill to learn the recipe. The book with the recipes is skill locked on the merchant, but you can experiment and learn the template recipes the old fashion way.

Armor combines are skill restricted to the point they require the purchase of the book (unless you already have learned the recipe.)

Yup, the templates only have the books as a "gift" to make it easier on players with the proper skill, as they can immediately learn it without going through the experiment process. You can still experiment for it if you like. Additionally the books have the recipes description text in them so you don't have to go to a fan site for the recipe if you do not wish too.

::Blinks:: Okay, I thought the templates were skill-locked too, so hadn't even tried. I'll burn some silk tonight, then. ;D
