How is EQ?

I havent been able to play and / or interested in playing EQ1 for a while. When I DID have money for a short time and gambled spending the cash to see how Bertox was doing, it seemed very quiet.

It has been probably since several months after EQ II and WoW came out that I have played. My guild from 1999/2000 broke up around that time and never recovered. The last I checked the guild was still there with alts and people that hadn't logged in for a year.

I played EQ II since 2 weeks after launch, then off/on again due to personal/financial difficulties, then tried LOTRO from stress test/open beta til November 30th when I had yet another financial mess, thus losing most likely my founder's special pricing.

Listening to all the mp3 files in my EQ directory brought up some 'sighing'.

I wish people without paid accts could post on the SOE forums.

Bertox is always quiet unless you multi box or are in a raiding guild. even then it depends on your play times. my current family guild i would guess about 30% have 2 accounts and in my last raiding guild 20% didnt have at least a second account. also if you are not at the top end(73ish-80) its even harder to find people out there. its the same on all servers. the lower end game is just not out there anymore.

there are other places to find people that no longer pay to play. Bertox however isnt one sadly. bertox.net(i think it was) was shut down for lots of hacked accounts and then bertox.org(i think again) never really took off as it was overly moderated.

Not sure what you are talking about with the "no longer pay to play" comment and the websites.

If you mean posting on forums other than SOE, then the Berthall forums was the forum to go to but it hasn't been active for a year or more.

If/when I regain a steady income, I just want to know if resubbing would be a waste of time again. I would still be playing if:

1. There wasn't a sudden, huge drop in people to group with.
2. I had money.
3. I had time.

I look at the newbie grounds threads and I see there ARE a few REAL newbs buying and trying the game out. Perhaps just not enough.

I recall you from Tholuxe Paells then Bertoxx. You were with er, Phoenix Legion, or The Guard I think. Been a long time

Anyway, there are xome guild that are happy to help out newbies (or returning players starting low characters), you just have to look around. You won't always be guarranteed a group or anything, but some gear might come your way.

PL then Avengers Federation.

AF went far relatively and considering it was a casual guild. Our last GL organized us and got us into some PoP raiding like BoT towers, etc.

I miss and 'lament' my paladin is still languishing in 1.5 limbo, at the point of needing a raid on Mujaki.

I miss my younger characters that have the EQ birthday event gear (30s monk with lizard gi, etc).

Hey Rendael, nice to see you.

I agree that Bert is quiet. The recent new expansion has helped a LOT in terms of finding pickup groups.
