  • Cut gems to aug Cultural armor (aug type 11)

Just wanted to bring up the point that if the cut gems are just listed with max possible stats visible, people are going to attempt to put them into their cultural armor since they are slot 11 augs.
Already had one customer try this, he looked up the augs on lucy (shows max stats) then bought a ring from me only to remove the cut taff and place on his cultural armor. It will fit but will not give any stats.

That could be a problem. I don't know if it is intended to be used in DoN armor or not but they do have same slot number.

there needs to be a description added perhaps, along the lines of:

"This gem is meant to fit in crafted jewellry only and will not augment armor statistics. The gem's attributes improve the better the quality of metal used in the jewelly setting."

The house Ogre mentioned in another thread that JC augs will not work in armor pieces and armor augs will not work in JC.

They probably used the type 11 slot since that is already established as player made, but I would have prefered they changed type 11 to player made (armor) and made a type 14 (or 15, whatever the next unused type is) and called it player made (jewelry).

I'm sure everyone will catch on to the nuances with time, but I'll be sure to add a comment in my mule AFK message to cut down on nasty grams. We all know how bitter some people can be in bazaar OOC when they think they have been cheated.

If memory serves the new type 11 cut gems will only fit in ears, face, neck, fingers and wrists. With the possible exception of bracers this should not present too much of a problem. I might, however, have missed something in the thread of things.

You are correct they do say face, neck, ears, fingers, and wrist for slots so should help cut down on confusion somewhat atleast, I didn't catch that. However there are cultural wrist items, and the gems will definatly go in them just wont give stats.

There's a nifty little trick at play here, though. The JC cut gems are actually scripted augments, like the LDoN Adventurer's Stone or the BiC augs. Their stats are determined not by the basic item stats, but by a script. That script sets the stats to zero if the aug is not in the right base piece. So even if you do insert a cut gem into a cultural bracer, it will have zero stats.

I'm not sure what happens if you try to put a cultural type 11 aug into a JC bracelet, though.

Hmmm... there are bracers listed in Allak as part of the new JC but I have yet to see one in the game. If it exists, it probably wouldn't work with new augs, but with older DoN symbols.

I just checked, Taaffeite is only ear, finger, neck, and face. I didn't check the 10,000 or so other new slot 11 augs but I'd bet none of them are useable in wrist slot.

why not go ahead and make it usable in don cultural armor?

can flag them to give more stats the higher the "quality" of the armor, just as they are flagged to give more stats the higher the quality of the jewlry metal they are placed in.

this would give options for those that are lower then lv 45 (about the time were you can start getting don augs) and for those above lv 70 were don augs are rapidly becoming week in comparison to other options.

This would definatly be a viable option for most players with limited play times
