Half Elf cultural symbol quest bugged?

I went to Vor Westrider in North Qeynos to get the quest for the Exalted symbol patterns and found the Vor will no longer give me any of the quests for the symbol patterns. I said "patterns" to him in many different ways, but he wouldn't say anything or give me any quests. I completed Expert, Master, and Grandmaster back when they were called that, but hadn't tried any of the quests once they were changed to Eminent, etc.

Are the Qeynos Halfelven quests the only ones that aren't working?

I also just now went to Nala Goldenthorn in Kelethin and she won't respond to her keyword "methods".

I am level 77, and a wood elf in my guild was able to get the quest and complete it at level 76, so I don't think I'm level restricted. I'm also a 300 skill smith, so I have the required skill to make the augments (I bought the books in PoK so I can see the recipes, I just need the new patterns now).

I did the symbol books (expert, masters and grandmasters when they were called that) on my boyfriend's halfling ranger. Currently I'm trying to get the new symbol pattern quest for my wood elf rogue. I was about to post that Calian Silverlake was bugged and I'm dissapointed that you're saying a WE in your guild completed this quest. He'll respond to hails and any dialog for armor, but he won't answer me when I ask about "runes" or when I say "I will help" to get the prompts for *any* of the symbol quests. I've previously done the wood elf armor book 3x on this toon, but never any symbol patterns.

Currently 78 wood elf rogue, 300 in smithing and tailoring, and I own SoF. Why won't Calian talk to me? Does he still give the symbol quests? I was confused as to whether he still gave them out with the name/recipe changes...Can anyone else confirm getting the wood elf symbol quest from him?

IIRC, the [armor] cue is the one you want.

Be sure you are yourself. Those NPC's do race checks and can be fooled by illusions and shrouds.

Can confirm I got the quest from him on my wood elf (lvl 75 at the time, master artisan) for both exalted and sublime just after the servers went up (before the first emergency patch) after asking about the runes. I also know a fellow wood elven tradeskiller who also able to get both tasks.

(Just a guess, but maybe it's UI related? I swopped back to the default one after the SoF launch because my old UI was giving me some trouble with other windows).

Just a hunch, but did you say "patterns" from memory, or did you hail and follow his text? I noticed the text on the human cultural NPC had changed from what I remembered. If you're going by memory, try hailing instead and see if it's changed.

1/2 Elf warrior here at level 75 (at the time I got the quests). Only 240ish in smithing with the Eminent quest previously completed.

I got the quests from Vor Westrider no problem. Just hailed and followed the keywords. Lvl 75 (Exalted) symbol quest takes you to Direwild and Icefall. Lvl 80 (Sublime) happens in the new SoF zones Fortress Mechanotus and The Steam Factory.

Remembering that at one time, the quests happened in different zone depending on who you got them from I then went to Nala Goldenthorn. Nala wouldn't give me the 75 / 80 quests. I then removed the two I got from Vor, rehailed Nala, followed the keywords. Nala gave me the same quests as Vor did.

I knew I had seen a bit more detail on the zones (since I'm at work). Searching the forums here I found this. Seems all race quests take you to the same zones now:

The 75 quest (Exalted) is kill 40 darkroot shaman + get 6 impressions (Direwind Cliffs), and kill 20 adult mammoth + get 4 impressions (Icefall Glacier).

The 80 quest (Sublime) is kill 40 reavers + get 6 impressions (Fortress Mechanotus, reached via the cannon in Dragonscale Hills), and kill 20 Foundry Workers + get 4 impressions (The Steam Factory... haven't been there yet).

Guess my only advice is the same as the others. Hail again with no illusion and follow the keywords. Let us know how you make out.

the only problem i had in kelethin on my half elf bard was i forgot i was in DE illusion, so of course they screamed at me etc.......soon as i dropped illusion everything went fine, followed text and got all my quests. i also noticed when i took my wood elf druid to her quest guy they used different texts, so maybe you used a wrong phrase or something like that........do what kryo said and make sure you follow their text exactly.

Yeah I went thru the hails properly last night in both Qeynos and Kelethin...it was late, and I had completely forgotten that 5 hours previous I had clicked on an illusion and that I still had it up at the time (wow no deaths in between!)... So I was able to get the quest today with no illusion on. /bonk self

Ngreth can you add where they say something about not being the right race if you have an illusion on? Actually that probably sounds like a code change, eh? Now that I've made the mistake, I won't make it again, but it would help others from making the same mistake.

Thanks for the responses, I did the same thing...I'm never a wood elf, I bet half my guildies couldn't even tell you that I was a wood elf LOL (Master of Disguise ftw). I went back and clicked off illusion and got the tasks fine.

I would second an added line that asks "are you sure you're a <insert race here> /eye", rather than getting no response at all.

I don't really know that you are under illusion, just that you are not the correct race at the time. I might be able to find out, but I am not sure that illusion is consistent enough for me to do so.
