  • General Drop Rates

I've been trying to gather the gazillion items for the Bristlebane's Challenge. Having completed this combine a few times in the past, I've noticed a significant drop rate in several items since the new cultural armor drops went live. Maybe this is coincidence but I have not seen it - in particular the drop rates for the drake intestines and the horse meat is absolutely ridiculous.

Suggestion: Perhaps the new items being added to a mob's loot table is the problem and if that is the case, can you not just add the number of items that can drop each kill. Example, an enchanted unicorn can drop 0 to 3 items per kill and there are perhaps 10 (up from perhaps 5 before) items on his loot table, can he now drop 3 to 6 items per kill. Seems plausible to me that if you increase the number of items that a mob can drop, you should increase his drops/kill by the same ratio.

    Just a good suggestion.

Global loots like sunshards and cultural drops do not affect any other items on any loot tables. Ngreth has told us this time and again. If there were 10 global drops on the same mob, it's normal loot would still drop just as often.

I saw him say that the drop rate on the sunshard did not affect/replace any other drop rate on the mob's table...but I did not see him say the same thing about the cultural drops.

The horse meat and intestines have always been one of the bottle necks for the BBC.. at least in my experience, and I assumed that is intended.

I could have missed it, but I still cant find where he said that about the cultural TS drops. Can someone direct me to that quote?

And I will reiterate what they said.

Global loot does not touch any existing drops in any way whatsoever.

Even if an NPC is getting full (22 items!!!! I don't think anything is even close...) global loot will just "poof" and not interfere with what is already on the NPC.

Again. To be clear. Global loot in no way whatsoever affects existing drops on an NPC.

I am not trying to make anyone feel bad, insult anyone or any such thing. I am just trying to be totally clear here

I have not hunted for Horse Meat in a while, but if you are looking at the flow of Drake Intestines in the bazaar, since MDS and GDH are no longer used for cultural armor, there are fewer people hunting in the Nest and fewer people killing drakes that can drop the intestines.

I hope that with the new expansion, and Kerafyrm having a story line, that the drakes in SoF will perhaps drop the intestines so that the playerbase moving forward to level 80 will have a source for them without having to go WAY back to the Nest to farm them. Also, I with the open plains in the hills, perhaps some horses will roam around with the animals and not just bears and cats and wolves.

You should put that on a T-shirt and wear it to the next FF as many times as you've had to say it Ngreth LoL:-)

Intestines maybe. I will try and remember to go back and look at that.

Unfortunately though, they are not nest drakes... so no nest drake meat.

Horse Meat is the meat I was more hoping for. Agree that the Nest Drake Meat kind of needs to come from the Nest.

Perhaps there will be a new baking recipe as well that everyone moves on to that won't require either of these drops and we can let them fade into the annuls like Holy Cakes.

I added Drake Intestines to the generic "drake" drop table I use, It should appear in many more places. Probably will not happen until SoF. It will not be in a patch note, it will just start happening. there is about a 5% chance per kill to get it.

Any chance you could do the same for "drake wing webbing" (used in Researcher Ceramic Clay, triv 262), Ngreth?

Seems logical that this could come from any old drake, but hey, I might be wrong

I'm not quite sure why that would be very useful, unless you're trying to use that as a skill-up path?

I used the smithing and tailoring ceramic clays as skill up paths before the cultural templates went in. I guess it is a decent combine to 262.../shrug

Correct. In terms of research, it's a very convenient combine for an otherwise mean as heck skill.

It might seem logical to you, but considering the sources of the drops for the other ceramic clay combines, drakewing webbings are already among the two more common of them.
