  • Have I missed something?

OK, so I have come back to EQ after a few years away and have been back a month or so.
I want to get back into crafting, although I have started new characters.

I have been here to see all these new drops for the new cultural armour. I play caster types. I have managed to do someof the quests to get my cultural books - Im a DE, so killing elephants in one case and sarnaks in another.

Now in order to start sewing all these 100s of weird silks I have collected do I need become a decent smith in order to make my own teir'dal sewing kit?

Is there a simple guide as to how to get started please? If not - what steps shoudl I look at doing in order to get sewing? I have done all the CR quests to get starting professions to 54.

    Cheers.

There are a few beginners tailoring guides in the tailoring section and I think one in the Tradeskill Guides section. You may just have to substitute the racial thread they list for your own.

If you are just looking to skill up, you do not need a cultural sewing kit. The templates can be made in any sewing container big enough to hold all the ingredients. If you are looking to make cultural armor and symbols to wear or sell, then you will need to find someone to make you a sewing kit or skill up in smithing until you can make your own. Same for a cultural sewing needle.

There is a thread "New Drop Guide" in the Tradeskill Guide and UI section that lists the items and the vendor items they need as well as the trivial ranges. You can use this as a starting place to try and determine what parts to use first/next; what drops you can get rid of; and what drops to save for later.
