  • Level 6 to level 7 trophy progression rate

Right now each of the trophies has it own specific progression rate based on how difficult it is to come up with supplies. In particular, some tradeskills that have a vendor-only path to 300+ have been set to require approximately 1200 combines to progress from level 6 to level 7.

However, with recent and upcoming tradeskill changes, these vendor-only paths are going away, specifically both mistletoe cutting sickles for smithing and gem-studded chains for jewelcrafting will become much lower trivials than before. At the same time, the new cultural combines have made the drops needed for high-level tailoring skill-ups much more common that they were -- to the point where tailoring and smithing are about equally easy.

The question this raises is whether the progression rates will be adjusted to reflect this. If there is no adjustment, there will be a serious imbalance in how hard it is to max the smithing and jewelcrafting trophies and maybe others as well. If there is an adjustment, it is the kind of change that we should hear about ahead of time, particularly if it includes making tailoring progression slower

Unfortunately, if I understand the current trophy progression system, each successful combine earns a certain amount of xp based on the players skill and the difficulty (trivial) of the combine then requires a certain number of xp to reach the next level and displays the progress as a % value. If this is the case there may be no easy way to adjust the xp given by each combine without affecting the progression rate up to the level 6 trophy on the one hand, or adjust the total xp needed to reach level 7 without causing someone currently at say level 6 plus 50% to suddenly have a higher or lower % value.

Anyway, just a topic for consideration. Thanks.

Ngreth has already stated that the number of combines needed will be adjusted when the vendor-only paths are changed. The changes are already in the data and just awaiting the next big patch.

Edit: I'm not sure how this would affect the existing percentage on trophies, though. In the past when a similar change was made (to the Cloak of the Spirit Tracker, or whatever the name of the evolving cloak from Arcstone is called), people found their cloak had its percentage changed rather dramatically, in some cases changing level. This might mean that when the adjustment is made, people will find that their trophy now has a higher evolution percentage than before ... or it might not. Can't be sure.

People w/ Level 7 wouldn't be affected. Their trophy is already level 7. It would not de-evolve.

If you had already maxxed Cloak of the Spirit Hunter (as Kryso used as an example above), it did not de-evolve.

And in this case, the change would actually be the other way. Some people with a partially evolved level 6 trophy could find themselves with a level 7 trophy after the change, since it takes less exp to "top up" the level.

It will be Like Kyros indicates. (these are absolutely fake numbers...)

before you needed 6000 exp to get to level 6 8000 exp to get to level 7 now you need 7000 exp to get to level 7. So if you were at say 6500 exp it would have shown 25% with the change you would have 50%... or if you had 7500 you would be 75% after change it would be evolved. (FAKE NUMBERS)

... so I should really have done a few hundred more GSC before today rather than saving up blue diamonds. Oh well...

Heck, I'm glad that I didn't sell off my leftover blue diamonds - it may actually be worth maxing Garshok's and Zoph's trophies now using the old Blue Diamond Cultural. Guess I need to start using up tribute faster . . .

95th Dreadlord, Povar-Quellious, 300 Ogre Grand Master Smith, 300 all skills
(glad the climb to 300 is finally over)

                  Zopharr
95th Priest of Brell, Povar-Quellious, 300 Dwarven Grand Master Smith, 300 all skills
(holds his 15% smithing trophy in his off hand and pretends to dual-wield - and hopes the Holy Dirt of Brell he's carried for twelve years will have a use in the new expansion)

95th Shaman of Inny, Povar-Quellious, 300 Troll Grand Master Smith
(got so tired of looking for a troll smith for armor that I made one)

                    My example:
lvl 6 Smithing Trophy at 22% before patch. Now at 29% after patch.

                    Another example from Smithing Forum:
lvl 6 Smithing Trophy at 87% before patch. Now at 116% after patch.

This means the no. of successful smithing combines (assuming all are 350 trivials) needed to evolve trophy from lvl 6 to lvl 7 is now reduced from 1000 to approx 750 - 760.

This is way above the 450 needed for tailoring.

                    (1) Is this discrepency between smithing and tailoring going to remain permanent? Or will either smithing or tailoring be changed to make them the same?

                    (2) Can we expect the same "small" reduction for JC when it goes live? i.e. from 950 to the 750 range instead of the 450 range?

Please refer to the table in this thread for the confirmed nos. before patch:

I believe my Master Smith trophy was at 8% before patch, now its sitting at 18%. Sure, I was hoping for more, but I'm not complaining about a free 10% evolution bonus ~

                      Thanks!

Or in my case, "Quick, do 300 more Gem Studded Chain combines before launch of SoF".

(Since I did 450 only thinking that was enough hehe.)

                            - Edit -

I should correct my phrasing to avoid confusion. Should be do 30% more instead of stopping at 45%.
