unable to see armor books?

When DoN cultural first came out, you did the various lvls of tasks to get the symbol patterns and just the 1 tasks of turning in the 4 random trash bits to get the armor patterns/molds. With the recent change all the recipes you "scribe" by buying them off of the vendors. Said vendors would not let you see anything to a certain number above your current skill. But today i found out that if you havent done the quest for the symbols it doesnt allow you to see the armor books either. Even though the tasks are just for the patterns for the augs. I.E. If smith X has done the blessed sacred and revered symbol quests, they see the corresponding recipes for those on the vendor as well as the armor they go with. If they havent done the eminent quest it will not let them see either the eminent aug recipes or the elaborate armor recipes. I found this to be a wee bit annoying but i can understand the reasons behind it. =)

I've only done the new Eminent Impressions quest and the little newby quest for the barbarian cultural book. I can see all the patterns except the gm ones, because I am currently only 272 smithing, I need 3 more skillups to buy the top notch patterns

um. The only thing it checks is your skill and your race... I did all my testing with a char that had done NONE of the quests (as it had just been created and skill given through GM command)...

I can confirm that on live I have all my armor recipe books (and symbol recipe books for that matter) despite having never done any of symbol tasks (old or new).

I have the symbol recipes yes, but NOT the patterns that are received after doing the quests... 300 tailoring, level 55 .

Can you tell us what level of skill is required to see what books, or is that one of those things we just need to figure out =)

I'm ~250 ATM and can't see the last one, though i was able to make the stuff and learned the recipies.

275 = Elaborate Armor

The template recipes for Cobalt are not visible at 262 but can be learned through experiment mode.

That is the only one I have seen posted and confirmed.

A guildmate of mine had this issue the other day - load default UI and you should be able to see the books without an issue for your direct race and not what your illusioned in. Hope this helps

was just wondering cuz a guildmate of mine has tailoring and smithing both above 275 and could only see 6 of the 8 cultural books on each vendor.

I believe that's also dependant on the level of the toon. The eminent? armor is req. 65 rec. 69 so that might be why your friend can't see it

Ngreth has stated (in this thread even) the only thing the merchants check to determine which books they show you is your raw skill. Level is not checked.

Are you sure your guildmate's *raw* skill is 275 or above, BeltiraBelkira, or is it his modified skill with trophy? If the later but not the prior, he wont be able to see the last books.

Actually Roanne i know for a fact that my tinkerer was only able to see 2 of the cultural book (for armor) when her skill was 249 raw but she was level 32. Once she dinged a few more levels she was able to see more books at the same skill (was working on leveling her NOT tradeskilling)

Then that sounds like a bug. Be sure to /bug it in game so Ngeth will see it and be able to verify and fix it if needed.

I have to disagree. My tinker is also level 32, but she has 300 skill in tinkering. She saw all of the tinkering books. The only books she couldn't "see" were those for tailoring and smithing above her skill levels.
