Do I need to do the pattern book quests from my cultural tradeskiller to make templates?

Or do I just buy template patterns from a vendor?

templates are sold on vendors. to make the armor you need the patterns that come from the ancestral book quest.

Where do you find the recipe to make the armor?

you buy template molds and template patterns from the merchants to make armor templates. you do the quest for the armor patterns. you use the armor templates with the armor patterns to make the final combine.

for skilling up you only need merchants, no quests.

to learn the recipes you can buy the books from the vendors in pok by the library door. there are 4 of them, tailoring, smithing, tinkering, and i think the 4th is the symbols or templates guy, i forget. you need to open the book and click the scribe button to learn the recipes, but i think you only learn the recipes up to your current skill level, or maybe just a bit higher.
