    Use up all your stuff tonight (tues)

    For anyone who's been brain dead or out of touch recently, make sure to use up any of your DoN cultural components tonight (before the patch). If you have any still in your inventory after the patch, they'll be worthless.

    As I understand if you've converted them into a cultural swatch/bar/sheet you'll be able to exchange them for the new stuff. But it has to have the cultural name in its name. Making Coarse Silk Swatches isn't good enough, you'll want to take the next step and make them cultural.

    If you've got stuff spread across several different mules and are facing the nightmare of tracking down where your stash of metallic drakes scales are, try downloading my inventory management tool. Address for getting it is www.eq-manager.com

    Once you've run it across all your characters, it'll make a master inventory file broken down into categories. One of those categories lists all the soon-to-be-old cultural components.

      The Game Update has moved to Thursday - On Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 4:00 am PDT (5:00 am MDT, 6:00 am CDT, 7:00 am EDT - 7.00 GMT), all EQ Live servers will be coming down for a Game Update. The estimated downtime is 7 hours.

        Drat, missed that, so rushed to make my final three metallic drake scale combines this a.m.

        And I was so bubbly that it looked like a scalper trying to sell 57 metallic drake scales at 24k each just before I left for work was going to have to eat them . . .

          I had the same warm feeling when I saw our resident buyer / seller eat their stash of overpriced MDS's as the server went down

            I saw one guy on Tunare eat 25 MDSes and 10 Glossy Drakes at 25k per, close to 1 million down the tubes.

              I have no sympathy for people that buy up items to corner a market and effectively keep the prices high for no reason other than greed, and especially since I am on Tunare I'm doubly sure I won't been sheading any tears for them.

                  I am pretty sure that was only if the combines to make the swatches and bars was completed before the patch. My understanding is the old combines will no longer work.

                    Yes, that's only if they had already been culturalized. MDSs, GDHs, and Coarse Silks are of no use (at least that's the way I understand it).

                    Sucky thing was that I got stuck with an extra coarse spider silk that I couldn't find a mate for to make a swatch out of. So I ended up eating one (ouch).

                      I have zero sympathy for this guy either, or many others like him. But he totally lost out of everything. Night before and day of patch, I offered him 30K plat for all his stuff. He did not sell a thing to me.
                      On the side note I am glad he did not. New stuff to make armors with the cobalt and superb stuff costed me vastly less than 30K

                        Oh, I'm quite sure no one on these forums - or very few - were shedding tears for him.

                        I figured I'd offer 500pp per MDS on my buyer the night before the patch to see if I got any for skill-ups for Rish - no takers. Have over a stack of Soluble Loam, though, most bought in buyer mode at very low prices.

                        It will be nice to actually make armor for prices casual players - who could use the armor - can afford.

                          There are still a few brainiacs on Bristlebane with MDSs for sale (for as high as 32k). I know, I know.. they just clicked Trader On without giving a care about removing the scales...... though I can't help but secretly hope that they are somehow oblivious to the changes and are still counting on their MDS being bought

                            It looks like someone on Maelin didn't know yet. A known reseller's inventory of metallic drake scale kept going up. Had 32 this morning and now 44. He may be buying up other's cheap MDS
