  • Losing imbued items

I searched for this, but couldn't find anything on it. It may be an old bug, but I reported it "in game" and thought I would just post it here and see if anyone else has experienced this.

When mass imbuing gems, I often set up a hotkey I can smash as I pass by my keyboard... something like:

    /cast 1
    /pause 150
    /cast 1
    /pause 150
    /cast 1

An hotkey next to it is:
    /autoinv
    /pause4
    /autoinv
    /pause 4
    /autoinv

So, I tap the autoinv key and then the cast key and go about my business. I end up with 3 stacks of 5 gems on my cursor. However, if I forget to autoinv and then zone or if I go LD, all but the TOP stack of 5 gems goes poof. (That is to say, if I had 3 stacks of 5 gems on my cursor, 15 gems total, I would end up with only 5 gems after the zone). I have been able to replicate this bug.

It's easily avoidable, but just wanted to see if others had noticed this.

I'm pretty sure this has always been the case. Whenever you zone, only one thing remains on your cursor. That 'thing' can be a stack of something or even a bag of stuff. But anything behind it in the queue will be lost.

I often have this happen to my ranger who forages on her own (just about every action she has is linked to her forage ability). Whenever she zones, at most she has one thing on her cursor.

Solution would be to include the autoinventory on the lines with the pauses.

      Pause 150, Cast 1
      /autoi

      /autoi

I saw that /bug someone (proably you) submitted.

There is currently nothing they are going to do about it. The "limbobuffer" gets cleaned when you zone. So don't zone until you clear it. That one "thing" will continue to stay, but the rest, poof.

iirc this is a feature not a bug

long ago (iirc) if you zoned holding something with no inventory room for it ... poof

then they ADDED the ability to keep something on the cursor as you zoned

          /shrug

(my memory of stuff back in 1999/early 2000 is fuzzy so I could be mistaken)
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

Yup. There is just ALSO a limbo buffer of about 20 items. Those go poof on zone.

Itek had it right, used to be:

              - If you zoned with something on your cursor... *poof*
              - If you summoned something with something else on your cursor... *poof*

I, for one, find the limbo buffer a little hacky. That it doesn't save at all must be considered a bug, but saving it on zoning isn't the right fix, imho. Making it so there ISN'T a limbo buffer is the right fix. However, this leads to requiring transactional inventory. You know the lag in WoW's inventory as you move things around? That's because EVERY inventory move is first processed on the server, then the changes are sent down to the client. Same thing would be used to put multiple things in your bags when summoning, etc. thus removing the necessity of a limbo buffer.

Transactional inventory is a HUGE change, though. I doubt it'll happen. Making the limbo buffer save? LOTS easier. BTW, limbo buffer was only 5 items last I recall, could be different now.

Tanker, you're not programming any more? Shame. We lost a good one there.

If I may be so bold, what are you up to these days?

Oops, sorry, that's not what I meant. I meant ANY EQ code. I'm still programming, just now it's web stuff for Qualcomm. Whole new world for me and (not to burst any bubbles) a way better working environment .

Ask me how many times I've been at work past 7pm in the last year... go on, just ask me! ZERO! Hahahahhahah ZERO!

Anyway... ya, I kind of like my new job... Plus I still have lunch with some Sony guys every week or so. Nice nice.
