  • Zones: Penality or Bonus to Skill Up Chance

    Tradeskillers live and die by the Random Number Generator and many of us have opinions on some zones having higher success rates for skill ups, but I don't recall ever seeing anything "offical". Are there any zones where tradeskill combines receive a bounus or penality in chance to get a skill up? In our guild several of the tradeskillers seem to think that doing combines in Abysmal Sea provides a better chance of a skill up than say PoK or the guild hall.

    Would appreciate hearing what others think as well.

    No such thing as bonus or penalty zones. Only on certain recipes like some DoN cultural has a bonus skillup chance.

      I stay away from lag. I just do.

      I tend to have successes when it rains in East Cabilis, but that is just luck.

        The only thing like what you are describing that I have heard about is that sometimes in instanced zones (like the guild hall) people have reported having issues getting trophies to properly evolve when doing combines, but to my knowledge there is no definitive way to tell if your version of the instance is bugged as the developers have had a hard time trying to recreate the occurrence to come up with a fix.

        People have claimed that some zones seem better than others. I remember it used to be Thurgadin was worse and that zoning out to Great Divide helped, but there was never any proof of this.

          My primary reason for choosing a place to tradeskill isnt the lag or the luck factor. Its how close are the merchants I need. Thats the only 'bonus' factor I know about with zones. Crescent Reach wins... hands down. (now if the Wayfarer magi could just figure out the spell to TL us there and back again..)

            Never ever, EVER combine in Thurgadin.

            I would sooner run through Great Divide unbuffed and tashed with my collapsible sewing kit making GM augs with a dozen wurms on my gnome-butt than use those defective looms in Thurgadin. Defective I say, DEFECTIVE!!

              And I pretty much 1750'd in Thurgadin w/ some in PoK.... but that was oh... more than a few days ago !!

                Aye - before PoK came along Thurg was my fav spot to tradeskill got everything except Tailoring to 250 in Thurg many many moons ago (and I was just lazy on tailoring)
