  • DoN cultural aug ingreds. not in Oggok?

    Hey guys,

I'm just getting around to smithing some ex-experts augs for friend's shammy, but have noticed that the Vellum, Book Binding, Ink, and quills required to make the aug patterns are nowhere to be found in Oggok.

Is there a particular reason for this? From just a cursory look over where they CAN be purchased, it looks like it can be purchased in every other home city including multiple places in a couple home cities.

I couldn't believe it, figgered he'd missed it. After all, how many Ogre Beastlords visit EQ Traders?

I just completed a sweep of Oggok and Feerot vendors (Phloyd likes to show off his good Ogre faction - can you say 100 Steins of Moggok). No quill, Large Bottle of Ink, Roll of Plain Parchment, or Book Binding. The Compacted Backpack is on one vendor, probably because the Ogre Smiths complained.

Looking at the EQ Traders database, it appears that Grobb also lacks DoN tailoring components. But I think the Trolls were still lickng their wounds in Neriak when DoN came out. There is also no Grobb source listed for Compacted Backpacks, so I assume the Troll Smiths are quieter than the Ogre Smiths (Ogres are known to be greasier).

My guess is that it was an oversight by whomever populated DoN cultural vendors. I am, however, very unversed in EQ lore, so there may be a reason that Ogres and Trolls do not have their own supplies.

AFAIK Dwarves don't have these supplies either.

"Historically", trolls and ogres used to have to head off to Neriak to do anything with tradeskills - their home towns had hardly anything in the way of tradeskill components or world containers. A smattering of such were introduced with "blue diamond cultural" smithing and such, and of course PoP was available to all - but historically, Trolls and Ogres have always been badly serverd in terms of tradeskills.

hehe... forgot to keep up with my own post =P.

Anyway, ya, none of that stuff is in Oggok. I really wouldn't mind heading to Neriak where all the blue toothy guys can actually do math and keep track of all this stuff, but that means as a an Ogre Berserker doing smithing I gotta run there to make new augs and back to Oggok to make the armor (Oggok Forge).

Maybe a rebellious Ogre can go to Neriak, study da math, and come back to Oggok to open a shop? I think it'd be great! He'd even have DE speech down!
