  • Dumb Question...

Do you suppose we will ever get mining like they have in EQ2? I would dearly love to mine gold silver copper etc...etc...etc..ooooo Gems too.../grin.

What makes a man a man? A friend of mine once wondered. Is it his origins? The way he comes to life? I don't think so. It's the choices he makes. Not how he starts things, but how he decides to end them.John Myer~Hellboy 2004

    just say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Can not and do not want to know how hard smithing would be IF ore was not buyable on vendors. Is hard enough as it is "farming" other components for the combines LET alone having to then go "mine" the ore.

16 votes no(one vote from each of my chars that smith).

I'd never say never. But I think it's unlikely.

I kinda enjoyed that in Ultima Online, way back when I still played it. But yes, I'd be careful with how it would be implemented in EQ. Like Liwsa said, I wouldn't want a smithy depending on mined ore.

But if it were seperate from smithing, say you can find gems and ore, but still buy them from merchants, that'd be interesting. Maybe mine up gems you can't buy.

I also like being a lumberjack in UO. It was fun to go out and gather raw resources and them make things with them. Sheering sheep was always fun, and killing deer for their hides.

I dunno about EQ2, but I know in WoW, you have a 100% success rate on any potential combine you know. If EQ is willing to do this... then by all means. Until then... Smithing is hard enough as it is, do this and kill Smithing in EQ.

I'd rather have a tradeskill added that produces an end product than one that provedes basic supplies. For example masonry and carpentry to provide housing.
