  • Tailoring Trophy evolve question

im just about to get 300 tailoring... i hope

however at this point my tailoring trophy only has about 40 % evolved.

i just tried to get the task to do the tailoring task but said i have the trophy already...
this might be because i still have the expert trophy and thats the only quest she could of given me
but anyway ... the question is...

once i ding 300 tailoring can i simply get the tailoring master task and do that. then combine the reward to evolve my current 50% or so trophy to rank 6 of 7?

    or

do i have to destroy my trophy all together and make it from scratch to evolve it to rank 6 of 7?

the first would seem slightly easier and make more sense to have to do, but has anyone tried?

When you hit 300, if your trophy is a level behind you any combines you do from then on will reward more experience (11 times more IIRC) to the trophy so that it can catch up to your skill level.

And that ends up being about 1% per combine (instead of about 0.1% per combine that you were getting before reaching 300.)

So it coems to an extra 60(ish) combines.

Is the extra 60(ish) combines going to be more effort or deleting the trophy and re-doing the task (which at that level is certainly not easy) better time spent. That decision is up to you.

Soonish(tm?) Tailoring will be getting a better skillpath, so it really becomes up to you as to which you think is the best way to spend your time, and if you are in a rush.

Bottom line: wait until after the revamp before you decide if it's cheaper to burn 60 combines or destroy and redo new trophy quest.

After the revamp, I would hold off buying in bazaar because some players tended to price items much higher due to high demand. For example when the PoR trophy quest first started, Stone Bean went from next to worthless to over 50k in just days and they were still selling fast for a month until the recipes were changed. The stone bean's since then went back to worthless.

all this is good to know but also posted else ware...

will the trade skill quest lady in freeport let me get the tailoring quest again once i ding 300? or do i HAVE to destroy my current rank 5 trophy first?

i understand i have to make everything either way.

You will need to destroy first as the npc won't give quest again if you still have one in possession. Like I said wait until after the revamp to see what new recipes are available to skill up your trophy and compare to the quest for level 6 trophy posted elsewhere on the forum and under quest link from main EQTC page. You should get an idea which one is the lesser of the 2 evils.. er cheaper that is.

Just to keep everything tidy, I'll reply in this thread rather than make my own, as I'm sure this has already been asked 500 times.

When I skill my smithing to 300, my trophy won't be 100% evolved, correct? There are 7 levels to the trophy in total, and 300 is only level 5, right? After 300, does the trophy evolve at a set rate per combine or is it a random fluke-chance like regular skill-ups?

It's possible that your trophy evolves to 100% before you get to 300. Depends on how lucky (or unlucky as the case may be) you are with skill ups.

At 300, it's still a set number of combines to go to level 7. It does not become a random chance, like the skill ups are.

Actually, isn't it a set number of successful combines?

As bewilderingly stupid as it may sound, I don't actually tend to equip my trophy often, as I find I get less skill-ups and fail more combines that way.

Call it paranoia or superstition if you will, but I seem to do better with my trusty sword and shield equipped.

Will this prevent my trophy from evolving?
                      (Please... be gentle.)

I am sorry to tell you .. unless you equip your trophy during combines it will not evolve. But you can equipe it in range or ammo slots also (ammo slot will evolve and give mod to skill but will not give the stats)

My tailoring trophy was about 40% when I hit 300, same for tinkering and spell research.
Fletching trophy had evolved from 0% to 76% in the time I got my fletching skill from 282 to 300.
Did get trophy quest done moment PoR came out and at that time you got one that was correct level but 0% evolved.
300 in baking, brewing, pottery, jewelcraft, smithing, tailoring and fletching. 300 poison making. 300 alchemy. 300 research. 300 tinkering. 3300 total!! Luclin server.

My baby drakkin hit 300 tailoring last night and like the OP.. trophy wasn't even at 50%.. was at 47%, I still had supplies for 6 combines on me, did them just to get rid of them, and every combine was indeed 1% evolution. finished off the run, with evolution up to 53%.

Unless your sword and shield have a +tradeskill% mod then yes, it's silly superstition and paranoia to think that you have more failures with the trophy then without.

Now if your INT/WIS/STR isn't maxed with trophy and it is with sword/shield that's another story, however just stick it in ranged so it can evolve and also give you the mod.
