  • the new tbs armor

with as high a trivial as the armor is and the cost of the siver to make it and the sub combines you would think the armor should have high enough stats to be useable by level 75 toons but it isn't just 80 hp 80 mana realy this junk armor is only good for getting your jc up and raising your black smithing up and that is about all, very disapointed with this new armor was expecting better guess sony forgot to give trade skillers and even chance since the armor you can get from pirate missions is way better then this made junk

First off, we were told in advance that tradeskilled armour wouldn't be the highest, it would be low to medium, so that no big deal.

You treat this new skillup path like its no big deal. Its a huge deal to me because with one simple dropped component which I've been able to get hundreds of I can:
    - finish smithing on my drakkin and my dwarf
    - finish tailoring on my high elf and my barbarian, which both toons have been over 290 for a year or more
    - finish leveling up a jewelcraft trophy which will lower failures on taaffeite (whew!)
    - finish leveling up a pottery trophy

I may have even heard of more tinkering combines?

This is the biggest and best tradeskill expansion in a while, and I love it. Sure the bought components are expensive, but its better than buying other components in bazaar for inflated prices or farming for hours on end. The other awesome part, especially compared to skilling up with DoN cultural is that vendors will buy this stuff for reasonable prices, you won't recoup all your money but I would go as far to say its on par with skilling up jewelcraft, so if it doesn't sell in bazaar its not a big deal.

I have been saving up some TBS components, but do you care to share with us what items you are using for skillups in those 4 TSs, Heynanni? Just for example?

I have to agree with Heynanni here Posa, those are great skillup recipes. For smithing/tailoring/pottery you can take a recipe from the highest lvl set of items (wrist is best as it is not lore and needs only one sunshard ore) and skill up to 300. Example would be: http://www.eqtraders.com/items/show_...r=035000000000 - You only need 1 sunshard ore and the rest can be bought from merchant Woad. Even the sellback price of the finished product is not that bad.

          Posa,
Jewelcraft is used in the subcombines for both the smithing (glowing weapons and linked armor) and tailoring (fitted and spun wristbands). Pottery I've been making foggy orbs.

The jewelcraft combines can be done by a tinker as well, so it is another viable set for the tinkering route. I'm excited for that, since my gnome is still working on his trophy, and I should finish that about the same time I finish tailoring.

As far as the stats go, I love the new armor on my mage with a growth orb. He loses a little ac (didn't matter) and gains 40hps in every slot. The earth one seems ok for plate classes as it adds some hps and ac, but I'm not sure quite how much.

Sounds great!!! Actually, I wasn't necessarily disagreeing in the first place, just wondering what sorts of combines were being used to skill-up all 4 of those TSs.

Thanks a lot for the example and hints! I am trying to max those 4 skills with all my might, so I think this will help a lot.

Merloc is at some point going to re-assess the stats on the orbs at least some. For one he is going to make Ice + AC instead of - AC and maybe some others. He may also want to add a "light" which is all +'s but to a smaller amount since there is no "drawback" stat.

                  tbs armor

how come you could not make it at least as good as the pirate armor you can buy with doubloons good enough for a level 75 to use , still think the armor is junk and sony could have done alot better

The orbs really need some adjustment. The negative stats really make this stuff essentially worthless. I made some of the stuff for my low level alts and all of them had better armor using DON cultural stuff. Drop the negative stats and then maybe they would be worth making beyond a skill up path.

                      tbs armor

this is good for getting jc since all of the first combnes have to be made with jc which i have raised up to 292 from 286 using this.and have sold some of the armor in bazaar but for thoe of us that where already gm smiths not realy good for selling to peeps not like the grand master items which if you want to skill up on those and not do the quest use the armor path if you want to sell use symbols . as for the orb they doing nothing to reg armor just lets you fill that empty slot in your inventory. I just think it could have been made alot better for level 75 players to use not the lower twinks . OH there is also 1 for fletching to make a bow ran out of the ore for this 1 so haven't made it yet

I just made my first few pieces of Beaten Energeaic Chain, and a Murky Fire Orb.. The chain itself is ok.. not great. Better than unaugmented Expert's chain and not as good as Bazu (which is to be expected, since it is in between in level). However, the orb was a big disappointment. It should have at least the effect of an expert class cultural aug, probably more since it is a consumable item, and more of a PITA to make .

I agree. The AC is not bad on some of the chain stuff. The problem is with the power sources. They need to fix the power sources to make the stuff so people will want to wear it.

The power sources ought to be a nice profit center for potters of all levels. They should be about the same strength as an expert (or whatever it is called) DoN aug, with appropriate emphasis based on type (that was a cool idea, but the really don't need negatives since you only get to use one and they evaporate eventually).

                            Myst

P.S. Talking about the 50ish level ones here. My 54 Ranja twink is in Bazu, took one look at the boots and sleeves, and made a very rude noise..
