I would like to see a "masters" level of recipies. An example would be the Celestial Essence.. when your skill is 200 above the trivial, you can learn a new way to make it and now you make 20 at a time.

This could work for all ingrediants and are needed in massive quantites, and yes these items need to stack in 100's.

A quest system so you can learn how to stack items in higher quantities. you do the Bow Stack quest Step 1, you can now stack sticks and staffs to 20, step 2 you can stack to 50, step 3 stack to 100.

Here is a hard one, change the system of skilling up from luck to exp. Each combine gets you some xp towards your next level. This could end the "100 combines with nothing and getting nowhere" Leave the rng so the points arnt a given, but put the xp so a person "knows" they will eventyally get a point. Right now, each combine is an individual event, in theory you could to 1000 combines and not get a point.

I want an aug to put on the Throphy that aids my success rate.

I think it would be kind of silly to have to do a quest to figure out how to make bigger piles of something.

Probably not feasible from a coding standpoint either.

please stop reading more into people's posts than is actually there
There is a nice cycle of statements. He says you read into his and then you say he reads into yours. You never even admitted that you may have made a mistake to begin with and read his post incorrectly. Kind of skipped right past it.

When I read his post, I assumed he was referring to the one above his. You assumed and skipped higher from what he's saying. Now I'm not assuming so don't read this wrong as has happened already, but do you think that people are always trying to ask questions of the devs instead of each other? I also, because of the little smilies, took the last bit as more of a joke. But I admit, I may be wrong there.

Now if that's not fair to ask, let's demand that nobody can respond to any post without first quoting the post they are responding to so that nobody else can be accused of such things as you have accused another of.

I'd like to see enchanted metals/clay and imbued gems vendor bought. Selling with a 50% mark-up over the base ingredient price, would still leave lots of proifit for player Enchanters/imbuers to make at Baz. But would give us a reliable source for enchanted/imbued materials, where baz sellers may see no profit.

That aside id like to see TINKERING for non-gnomes (but no mastery).

Would also like to see Cultural Baking & Brewing, this too me seems more logical than Cultural Smithing & Tailoring. Less farming and more fun would be nice.

There are a few things that sprang to mind as I read through this, but I'll keep most of them to myself. There are two that I just have to say...

1) This thread was started as a wish list. Not 'things for next patch,' 'things we're [by that I mean SOE] looking at,' but things the TS community would wish for. Its good to wish for things, and it is true that some of the wishes that have come from the tradeskill community have acutally come true, but the truth still remains about Wishes and Fishes... =P

2) The Dev in charge of tradeskills actually decided to take time to post about things on this thread (and on many others). The tradeskill community is one of the most lucky in EQ in that it has an interested and involved person working at the other side of the game.

Whopper of a Dream

Ok this idea is a little off the wall and is more fun than useful.
Using tradeskill recipes to redecorate your guild hall.

<Right about now I think most of the Devs reading this fainted, that's ok we’ll wake them later.>

Concept:
Each tradeskill can be used to change the look of your guild hall. Here are just some examples off the top of my head.

Fletching – wood furniture, chairs, tables, etc.
Tailoring – rugs, tapestries, floor cushions, etc
Smithing – Decorative weapons and armor to hang on the walls or weapons racks maybe even a standing suit of armor.
Pottery – Vases, bowls, bottles, but even better would be statues!
Jewelry – picture frames, chandeliers, stained glass window, and other types of lighting changes
Tinkers – Clocks, cosmetic changes to tradeskill stations, and other curiosities,
Poison and Alchemy – Paint, and paint stripper for the walls, floors, and furniture.
Brewing and baking – This is a little harder to work in, but the idea of a fully stocked bar and buffet sound nice (not sure how that would work).

The above was just a rough outline, most of the higher end furnishings would require a combination of skills.

How to do this with the least amount of code changes.
<Time to wake the Devs up>

To explain how to do this I have to go back in Everquest history a little.

Remember being able to hand the Priest of Discord armor and he would wear it? Well if you don’t this was probably one funniest things to see. You would hand him a rusty sword and he would equip it, you’d hand him bronze breastplate and he would wear that too. Ok now what does this have to do with changing furniture?

Example: You start off with a NPC that is “stool”. Now Mr. stool looks like a little three legged stool. He acts like one too you can’t hit him, he can’t hit you, you can hail him all you want but you’re still just talking to a piece of furniture. What makes Mr. stool different is if you hand him “a chair” (made with tradeskills) he becomes Mr. Chair, and hands you “a stool”.

In short you are changing the model of an inanimate NPC by handing him an item.

The redesign to the guild hall zone would be minimal maybe a couple of more empty rooms filled with inanimate NPC’s all starting out of the low end. And then upgrade and change it through tradeskill furnishings. I know this may sound like a lot of work but it would be a way to show your guild some of your talents as well a customizing your guild hall to fit the personality of your guild.

While we’re at it, it would be nice to be able to "dress" the existing NPCs in the Guild Hall like we used to be able dress the old PoDs. They work for us after all why not be able to have them look like we want.

Ok I know there are some problems to overcome:
The guildhall resets after so many minutes of being empty. This would have to change.
Keeping record of what each Inanimate NPC and other NPC was “wearing” would require more memory be allotted (this would probably be the same memory used for Guild Bank contents).

You would probably need a guild office to determine who gets to change the furnishings (Guild Hall Curator?).

Ok, now before you start to flame this post, keep in mind this is just a dream (you asked for it!). Many of you may think this is silly, or a waste of time other may think this would be fun. That’s the keyword FUN, this is a game after all.

/flame on

Interesting idea but it may run into issue with decorators that have conflicting taste.

Beside we'd need a new tradeskill to go with this: undecorator someone who can remove unwanted stuff. Higher skill means better chance of removing cleanly without damaging anything.

You lacked the skill to do this!

Enchanters are really having a tough time take this last expansion there is a whole zone they cannot mez in and really that is about all people need them for we have potions for KEI and haste and other classes can cast manaregen spells and haste spells so about the only thing left to them was really crowd control and there is getting to be fewer and fewer mobs that it sticks too. You can't mez a Giant something about the size so then you are left with the root fear method and several other classes can do this better. I support the idea of not making the enchanted items available from vendors as that would just about make a chanter totaly not necessary and they would become really rare.

As to wish Lists...I really wish I could make a cloaking device that would work against all mobs regardless of what they are...ahhh a one click (preferably Instant) device or potion....

And I continue to have no plans to put enchanter "stuff" on NPC vendors. The most I would do is some recipes similar to the coalesced mana, where really... an enchanter is STILL the best way to go, but in the end, I still don't think I will do that. The Mana vials thing was just a "lighbulb" moment when I saw the lore on what those critters were, and I made sure that enchanters can still do it better

any chance you will give chanters a spell which enchants higher quanteties?

edit: or maybe an enchanter only AA similar to Necromancer Flesh to bone AA ?

What I would like, though this isn't exactly a tradeskill issue, but I want it because of tradeskills, is the ability to do a quest to change my home city to Crescent Reach.

The first thing I would wish for, isn't a tradeskill wish at all, but a non-tradeskiller wish: Another Filter in Options/Filters to TURN OFF tradeskill spam in groups if you want to. Nothing more annoying than being grouped during a raid with somebody who has decided this is a good time to replenish their arrow supply, or their poisons, or whatever.

Beyond that: I see a lot of stuff wished for here that are impossible because they would lead to being able to make money off vendoring TS items, and we all know that is a BIG No-No, since it makes macroing plat possible. I also see a lot of complaints about having to use non-storebought items, or having to work with other classes to get items, or whatever. Well, welcome to the world of tradeskills in EQ--its been that way since the beginning, and coming late to the party doesn't get you an "easy" pass. Its hella-easier than it used to be anyway.

Finally: if my first wish ever came true, my second wish would be for more items with very high trivials, but that are actually usable by high-end players. It has always seemed sad to me that players can never make gear as good as you can get raiding. Somebody had to make that gear, right? Some mythical smith or tailor or whatever? Well, why can't I become as good as that mythical figure? I've ****ed well put in the time, gotten 300 in everything, gotten the mod items for my skills, and spent millions of plat getting to where I am, but apparently I'm just never going to be as good as the NPC out there who makes the high-end gear that drops on raids in the candy zones. At least give us a chance, eh? Cultural was a nice idea, but it is outdated already, and its time for another step in that direction.

WISH LIST

this might seem long but trust me you just GOT to check out that last one Ngreth Thergn it will make u want to come to work every day ... even saturday

- Filter option to filter out other's trade skill combine messages ( or allow u to filter to a window diffrent than your own skills)

- Filter option to seperate forage, bind wound, FD messages from trade skill combines to diffrent windows

- a Player's Trade window should have 10 slot's not just 8 to trade with people ... we have 10 bag slots... and trust me i know a lot of people in real life that can easaly trade all of their 10 bags for the 10 bags from some one ealse at the same time and keep all 20 bags from touching the ground durring the trade... so this only makes sence

- Remove the no Trade on Trader satchel

- Make MOST tools like hammers, smithing chizles, stack to 2,
(So Tools would NEVER drop to the ground... if i wanted to have 2 in my invintory, for that reason)

- Improve /showname ... add a few more combinations....
(First name + guild name), (title + first name) (everything but last name)

- Fix /autoinv ... by.... when u have 2 items on your cursor ...ie. hammer and final product. it currently shows the picture of the wrong item if u hit /autoinv once, but works if u click in in your invintory.

- when you zone with more than 1 item in your cursor it does not cause the items to be lost forever.... foraging with an item in your hand

- an aa for Driiods, rangers for Flexibility behond normal means.... allows you to bend over while on a horse or Drog and find items on the ground(forage) and not fall off

- Put 2 trade skill containers of each in Guild hall and aug dispencers
or ultimatly
- Allow more than 1 person at a time access to Stationary containers

- stationary Fletching kit, in GH?
- Stationary Mixing bowl in GH? oh wait even better, PoK... yah right by the pond inside western trader building.
- the Books behind the banker in GH could be Stationary Reserch tombes ...

- collapsed Cutural fletching / sewing kits - the gnomes worked so hard on the AAAA's you'd think they would have stumbled across hints at more collapsed kits
- make the Collapsed distilory a 6 slot

- token dispencer person in GH / GL... yes im lazy ... but more so, hate zoning to PoK to get to bazzar when asked to doPalladium combines
or
- make the top doors in GH go places.... like Bazzar, theirs 6 doors in all
Bazzar, Abysmal Sea, PoTranquility, Arena, Cresent Reach, CsHome
PS dont forget the signs that say witch goes where
You know trade skillers would LOVE this one

- Bind in GH?

- Improve and add in game titles like Master <trade skill> when the Trade skill trophey for that skill reahes rank 7
also for master artisin... (1337 Grandmaster Artisin Lessw) yah that has a nice ring to it.

- Trade skill armor with 3 aug slots one each of a 7, 8, 9

- Make a tailoring and fletching version of the Misty Thicket Picknic and Misteltoe Cutting Sickle items for skill up paths from ~260 to 301... Lots of sub combiens, stuff from all over the place, 95% stoor bought (less Spider silks or Brownie parts somthing easy), Enchanted peices (helps the enchanter population), lots of running arround (would help Druid and wizard population), atleast 1 non stack item maby just in the subcombines, perhaps a 1 group monster misson to be able to get the faction needed to buy from the venders or put venders in a keyed zone (not top end raid but something like KT, Seb, 5th floor in ToFS, nothing too rediculous (but the items would be tradeable)... skill cap it at 253 to atempt the combine and i think we'd have a winner if the cost per item wasent too far out of line
But trust me we can leave the gnomes out of these we dont need tinkered items in tailoried items. the iron filings from the bolts would chaiff and itch and the oils and grease would so NOT feel good durring the hot norathean summers.

- NEW and improved Signit of the Arcane Quest! and this time, give us a challenge i dare u... That quest took many months ... not days
Artisin charm = nice but easy, wonderlust = fun for 3 days
i WANT SOME KIND OF epic 1.0 1.5, 2.0 multi Trade skill Only quest
++ start with the BiC 1 though 10, add a good helping of Aid Grimel, add a few Epic 1.5 fights, the 10th ring war, and 8th shawl run, a dash of Raster, 3 cups of Monster missons and a head of Xanthe's Cabbage, and mix it all in your Brewmaster's Mug with a Wooden spoon for 2 days, let simmer on a gnomish geat source for 6 weeks while u work on making the place settings, then when done pore it in a pan big enough to hold all this and spred evenly with your Denmothers Rolling Pin, let cool in velks for 3 days and beet with your Blacksmith's Adamantine Hammer ocasionaly to keep it from turning in to a single block of ice, once cooled, inspect it with your Intricate Jewelers Glass for inperfections, and remove them with your Phylactery and then use your Fletcher's Arrow to cut shapes in it and place it on crystal palladium place settings (that you made earlier), garnish with a giant halibut and have some soothing music in the background (that you composed and recorded) while u ware special gloves you made. and serve all that up to all the hard core trade skillers. and THEN let it evolve from their, ...7 ranks to its final form, a item of witch would be So usefull and bad ass and have a totaly unique look and title no one would ever dream of replacing it, ever under any situation (it would even count as an unbreakable fishing pole)
PS. yes make it so usefull that EVERYONE in the game has wet dreams about finaly owning it ... but most only will say ... im not guna starting THAT!! its too hard ::Wah / Cry / pout :: ... unless they where a hard core trade skiller... like myself, that enjoys a good chalenge
hopfully this could keep a few people bussy for atleast 6 months.

... yah id like that

Not being at the mercy of the RNG!

What did you say? Yes, not at the mercy of the RNG. Here's what I mean.

Currently, for skilling up we are at it's mercy. For drops, same. Successful combines, same. Every time you turn around, it's all based on the RNG. You say it's a computer game what did you expect? Yes, yes, I understand, really. But hear me out, please.

Skill-ups: RNG best option.
Success: RNG best option.
Drops: Hmmmmm.

Supply of items is limited by who's hunting where, and how much they hunt there, and if the RNG is being kind or not. So even if you ARE keyed to go to <insert UBER zone here> you still stand a pretty good chance of getting owned by the RNG. Last time I checked, most of the people that really enjoy tradeskilling are not keyed for where they would most like to get product, and so are at the mercy of the 'zar prices. So, ultimately that really nice 300 skill and 15% trophy does you no good, as paying 8k for a bolt off of one of 10 or so feasibly huntable mobs in the game (yes, destroying faction should not be mandatory to tradeskill IMHO) is not a genuine TS option, unless you got in on the ground floor and sold your very first AAAA for 250k (first one I SAW for sell was at 1000k) and now fund the rest from your first pilaging of the community (no offense intended to anyone who busted their hump on that particular one, just an example).

Why can it not be, that it is assumed that "mobs" will have various things. You know: hair, skin, organs, bones, flesh, blood, etc etc. Indeed the quality and quantity will vary widely especially depending on HOW they are killed. I'm really sure that bar-b-q'd giants won't have much hair in any useful state, for example. And rather than force a tedious farm, fail, farm, succeed, farm some more routine, allow that people of various skill levels can improve an item from a less than pristine condition into usable product through various techniques of the trade. Then once in an improved condition of a certain level, take several such improved items and make one truly immaculate specimen for use in a final product.

Make the drop rates so common that there is a supply that won't dictate insane plat mongering in the bazaar, but will allow those that are genuinely interested in tradeskilling an outlet. Also, allowing them a bit of pride and satisfaction in the work they do.

Would it be a good skill up route? Not really. I'd think it would be a rather tedious way to go, but heh why dictate a path. Would it be easy, not necessarily. I would think it would be a torturous sub-combine loop. But it would make tradeskilling a matter of skill and persistance, not of who you know, how you are keyed, or at the mercy of an unconcerned RNG.

<shrug> Just a thought. Have a good one.
