What use Certificates??

This maybe a silly question but what purpose do the tradeskill certificates have? or do they have one at all? Also how do you upgrade them. Currently at 235 Pottery but still have the Apprentice cert.

Thx for that Liwsa but I didnt mean the trophy itself. That is growing steadily. I meant the certificate itself. I have tried puting it in an oven and a kiln while holding my trophy and hitting combine but nothing happens to the certificate. Is this what is keeping me back at apprentice level on titles?

Did you try the pottery wheel? Where did you get the certificate, what level is your trophey?

The certificate will skill up your trophey for you to the appropriate level. AFAIK, that's the only purpose. The tradeskill titles come automagically, use shift-R to select the one you want. (at least they have for me).

Sorry, yes i did try the pottery wheeel. Cert is App, trophy is Freshman so not sure why its not doing anything unless you need to have it on you when doing combines. Pottery skill right now is about 235.

Trophy must be equipped when doing combines for it to gain exp. If you had your trophy equipped when you combined the cert. in the pottry wheel then it should have poofs when your trophy evolved.

The only thing the certificate is for is setting your trophy when you first acquire it. It would have evolved your trophy to Apprentice level instead of Beginner level.

Now that you have evolved it the long way to Freshman level, you don't want to reset your trophy back to Apprentice. So, you don't need the certificate any more. You can destroy it if you want.

actually it won't even work for you any longer.

I wanted to be sure it would not reset anyone's trophy, so it checks to see how much exp it needs to give the trophy to get to its goal. If in doing the math it finds a negative number (I.E. the trophy has evolved past what the certificate will do) it just fails out of the script.
