  • Has anyone soloed the Coldain Shawl Crawl?

On Jan 12, 2007, I was bored and sorting my bank when I noticed my turn in stuff for the shawl crawl I had been ready to do for about 2 years, but couldn't find people to do it with. I thought to my myself, "Self, you have been soloing for tradeskill parts in Plane of Earth lately, and can even do 2 at a time. Would doing up to 6 grey/green mobs be so hard?"

I grabbed the stuff, and took the guild portal to Iceclad. I gave the items to the General, and off we went! First 4 wolves...cake. Four giants next...more cake. Three giants and a boss (who is green)...hmmm...more cake. Five wolves...lalalalalal more cake /drinks coffee with cake. Final wave, five giants and green boss. Icing on the CAKE! Script continues with no bugs and I get my shawl, finally. And it actually has minor use since it extends the duration for a few older spells I still use like Spirit of Eagle.

So I ask again, has anyone else soloed (no one else around at all) the shawl crawl? Or am I first on EQ to do it? If someone else has, is there anyone on Emarr/MT who has? Or am I server first?

Grats!! - that writeup could probably stand some updating as difficulty goes. I wouldn't be surprised if anyone else has done it, but I can't say I've actually heard of such.

I seem to remember one of our (Rev) shamen saying they were doing it some time back for an alt, but I could be mistaken.

I still have my shawl in the bank - way too much pain went into it to throw it away.

I have soloed everything but the final shawl crawl. I have yet to try the final part and the box is still sitting in the bank. The 30% extended buff are nice but the effectiveness drops below other focus items before you get to level 70 spell. Also it'd get tedious swapping shawl and other focus item that works for spells over 65.

Dunno about solo'ed, but when I did mine last (probably about a year ago) I got a friend of a friend to help me.

Shaman and Warrior basicly duo'ed (two boxed) the whole thing while I watched and cast Atone on the General. (Warrior was using some AE taunt I think.)

So while you might not be the first, it's still a great feat. Super Congo-rats. (Congratualtions.)
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.

It's only 20% extended, but was best in it's day (no matter how unremarkable it is today). You don't have to swap it in and out if you do not want to, the best Extended Enhancement activates on its own, that is if you can afford to keep wearing it.

My biggest concern was not surviving the mobs, but keeping the General alive. Or worse, getting aggro myself on the General.

That said, I did with 4 level 75's. (Thanks Liny, Mistatk and Funry) Even though it was easy, it was very rewarding to finally complete this.

Now to wonder if they'll add a 9th and 10th step in TBS. Sure the Avatar of Below is a god and all, but hey, for a god, he is still a little bitty guy. I think my ogre was taller than him.

I thought I read somewhere that there are no plans whatsoever to add any steps to the shawl.

There is always a "chance", but when it comes to actual planning and development... nada. Isn't there a thread about it somewhere?

AFAIK there has never been any actual plan to update the shawl quest. There could be a different quest like shawl but suitable to 75 but the old shawl quest will probably remain unchanged right down to level 65 limit for the focus.

I had a few steps done but decided that the benefit of level 70 focus (or 75) far outweights the reduced benefit when trying to use the shawl with 69+ spells. So to date only 1 of my toon has done all but the very last step and my other toon has a few odds and ends rotting in the bank.
