The Undiscovered Country (or recipies)

To put it in appropriate form, Does ANYONE know how many undiscovered recipies there are? Even in a general form like 10's or 100's?

There are so many items out there that seem to have no function, and a great many are from broken and discontinued quests, that doing random combines makes no sence if there are only 4 undiscovered recipies out there.

There was a post some time ago (I think from Maddoc) that stated the undiscovered recipies numbered in the 1000's range and that was a number of expansions ago. As purely a guess based on this non precise number I would have to say between 1500 and 2500 undiscovered recipies.

People have wondered the purpose of a Scaler since beta and its never had a use found yet.
